my DH and myself have the old green style drivers licence. Are we ok to use these in Florida or do we have to apply for one of the new photo style ones ?

Thanks

Not long now !! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Absolutely fine - although the expiry date can confuse a lot of US car hire staff, this shouldn't be a problem in Orlando or Sanford as they see so many.

My green paper licence is actually probably now more sellotape than paper but has never been a problem.

The only advantage of a photo driving licence is that it will act as a photo ID when you need one instead of carrying your passport.

The 'old' green licences are fine to use in the US for driving.

However, you might want to consider getting a new photo licence as it's a useful item of photo ID, and easier to carry around than your passport. :) (but you need to take both the photo card and the paper part with you for driving)

Snap, Pat ;) You must be faster at typing than me :teeth:

Thank you all

It was just one of those niggly little things I kept thinking about !

Last year when we went DH took his test for a FLorida drivers license, he now has a really funky American one which is great because he doesn't need to worry about taking his green paper on (which is so old it's in pieces!)

:smooth:

How do you do that without being a FL state resident - or having a social security number?
