Greedy Drawf

Being constantly asked to shell out more money for things that should be included just gets tacky.

But when are you "constantly asked to shell out money"? WDW isn't a cruise ship with CMs standing behind tables trying to sell you dessert parties and alcohol packages...these products aren't prominent at all in the park experience. If you don't know about them you wouldn't even know they were happening.

The one exception is the parties, because they do negatively affect regular guests' experiences. The way to fix that would be for Disney to post the party dates way in advance so that people can plan accordingly. Same goes for EEM.

Also, what "should be included" that they're forcing you to pay extra for? This comment confuses me...you can actually get a better view of the fireworks for "free" if you stake out a place early. If Disney closes off the whole hub area for a dessert party - I'll be joining you in your irritation. But that's not what they're doing...nothing they're offering for an extra price is something that they used to offer for free.

I am late to this party, but I just have to say I am thrilled that they now offer dessert parties. I happily shelled out $118 for me and my daughter to not have to fight the masses on Christmas Eve to watch the fireworks that we have never seen. We enjoy the desserts but that is not what I am paying for. It is no different than paying for the better seats at a ball-game or a Broadway show. All you get for your extra money is a better view.

And FYI, I am a single parent who has a modest income. We save in other ways throughout the year to afford our trips and we choose what to add within our budget, just like we do for any other thing we do. You don't have to be well off or irresponsible to add value to your vacation.

Btw, what is a drawf?

I read this entire thread hoping to find out. Alas, the mystery remains. At least I know they are greedy! It almost sounds like a children's story. Here's hoping "The Greedy Drawf" has a happy conclusion!

After our trip last week, I will be doing the dessert parties for Star Wars and Happily Ever After if available from now on.
