Greatest Surprise Trip Ever.....Thanks Honey (April 26-30, 2010)

We head to MK and things are not looking good. It was cloudy at the resort, but as we are approaching the MK, it is looking really bad:

This should have been a warning as to what was coming.

We go into the park and get our stroller. We walk down Main Street and this is what we see:

We find a spot to watch SpectroMagic spot right outside the ice cream shop, under the top cover. I caught a few pictures before the rain:

This photo should have told us to head back to the resort right away: :scared1:

It starts to drizzle and then storm. When I say storm, I mean thunder, lightning and heavy downpour rain. We were huddling under, but we were still getting wet. I was standing holding the poncho behind me to hide the stroller with Madi in it. Jaden and DH were sort of behind the stroller and not getting too wet. We are stuck here. They make an announcement that Spectromagic and Wishes are cancelled for the evening. That throws my whole week off. I am a planner and this was the night we were supposed to watch Spectromagic. We will have to make a decision to come back the next evening that Spectromagic is showing, or watch Fantasmic at HS. What will it be?

Everyone was heading out the park soaked. We decide to wait it out, even though SM is not showing, maybe the rain will stop and we can catch a few rides. The rain starts to slow down and some, not enough for us to move, and people under the top with us start to leave so we get closer to the building. The ice cream shop also starts to clear out, and we decide to head inside and get an ice cream. Now it is barely drizzling. We head to Fantasyland to ride Madi's favorite ride, the Mad Tea Party. Next, we head to Tommorrowland and ride Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger spin. This is a must do each trip.

As we are heading over, the rain starts to pick up. We are already on our way, so we continue on. When we get off of Buzz, it is no longer drizzling. Madi realizes we are right near the carousel of Progress. So we run over. After we get off the Carousel of Progress, we decide that we do not want to dodge the rain. So we head back to the resort. By the time we get to the bus stop, we are soaked.

That is the end of day 1.

Up next, Day 2 - HS.

How disappointing! At least you got to go on a few rides in spite of the rain - I hope now that you get to see Spectro before you leave!

Those skies did not look good at all, but what a disappointment! I sure hope you got to see it, it's my favorite nighttime show.....I think.....maybe Fantasmic....nevermind I can't pick which is my favorite:lmao:

We were hoping that it was one of those quick showers, but it wasn't. It was drizzling when we got back to our resort.

Enjoying your tr. We were there april 19-28. I can't remember it raining any night except the 25th, is that when you were at mk? :confused3 Can't wait to read how the rest of your trip went.:goodvibes Oh, and I live in Denham Springs, just east of Baton Rouge. Praying that the oil mess gets solved and the pres doesn't shut down the gulf:scared1:

the 25th, that the night, it was Sunday. I know where Denham Springs is, I lived in Baton Rouge for a while when I was a teenager.

I hope they get the oil mess cleared up soon. My husband works offshore.

Yep, that was the day it rained, it was on Sunday.

I lived in Baton Rouge for a while while I was in high school and my mom had a friend that lived in Denham Springs.

I hope they get the oil mess sorted out soon. My husband works offshore. :confused3

We don't let the weather get us down. Maybe we can work spectro in our plans later in the week.

Reading along and just realized that we were at MK that same night! We waited in the Emporium for a while then just put on our ponchos and toughed it out for a couple of hours. There was EMHs that night, right? We stayed until almost 1am! We had the park practically to ourselves! How funny!

It was EMH's night. How funny that we were there at the same time. I wish I would have know that all you guys were there at the same time as me, we could have arranged a meet.

I am posting all these updates and totally forgetting about my PhotoPass photos. So I will catch up with them now:

We love to have the photographers take these magic shots. I was suprised that we didn't even have to ask for them this time. Last trip we asked and they reluctantly did them.

Day 2

Hollywood Studios

We are up for 8am and getting ready. We eat breakfast at the foodcourt at ASMo. The girls have French Toast, one of their favorites. DH and I have pancakes.

One good thing about the Dining Plan is that for breakfast, you get two drinks. DH and I had each a orange juice and grabbed bottled water for later. We also realized that neither one of us drank all of our juice, so we agreed that next time we eat breakfast at the food court, we would share an oj and get 3 bottles of water. DH went back and picked up one of the waters. We only wanted to tote one bottle for the day. We head out to the bus stop.

We arrive at Hollywood Studios about 10am, pass through bag check and turnstiles and get our stroller. Jaden has so much fun decorating our stroller tags.

Being it's just the four of us, with one in a stroller, we all head to TS Mania for FP's. We really have no plan for today. I just mentioned that I did not want to criscross the park. So, we start off with One Man's Dream, being it is right next door to TSM. We never did this before. It was very interesting, it's something that I will do again. We come out of One Man's Dream, right near Playhouse Disney - Live on Stage! Madi notices this and she wants to go inside. Shannon went to get the stroller and we wait for him. Just as he is coming back, they open the doors to let everyone inside. Perfect timing. Madi is coming out of her shell so much since she started school, she even got up and danced a little.

And this is the moment Madi fell in love with Daisy....

By the time the show is finished, Madi is still asking for popcorn. We start looking for popcorn as we head to the Great Movie Ride. Madi is scared of this ride, but I tell her it's ok and make her ride. They changed this abit. They didn't do the gangster scene. Oh well, we still like this ride. Madi is still asking for popcorn and I can smell it, but can't find it. As we are leaving the Great Movie Ride, they have a snack cart, but no popcorn.

High School Musical 3 senior Year Concert celebration is going to start in about 20 minutes, so we stake out a spot. While waiting, I spot a snack stand selling popcorn. We have 20 minutes til the show starts, so Madi and I head over to get her popcorn. Well, their was only two guys in front of me, who wanted one item at a time and then forget something so they order something else. The CM also was sort of confused. This was taking forever. All of a sudden, I hear the music, so we head back to our spot and Madi is still asking for her popcorn. popcorn:: The stage gets in its spot right in front of the hat, and the CM brings our rope and we are right in front. Madi forgets about her popcorn right about now. The sun is beating down on us, I feel it on the back of my neck. I was videoing the concert celebration, so I don't have many pictures. At the end when they are almost done and they bring up children from the audience, they pick both my girls. They are so excited. Madi is reluctant to go up at first, but she does and has a wonderful time. School has done wonders for her.

125-1.jpg

When this is finished, guess what Madi wants. You guessed it POPCORN. We can't cross the street because the stage is heading out, so we tell her we will find popcorn. We head over towards the Muppets Vision 3D and still no popcorn. Well, we do find Pizza Planet and we are a little hungary, so we eat pizza instead of popcorn. We only saw one popcorn stand in all of HS open. The food at Pizza Planet was ok. I have heard great reviews, but ours was not so great. I would not choose to eat here again. We make our way to the Backlot Tour, stopping off for some photo shots.

First we come across Lightning McQueen and Mater. We never saw them before. The line wasn't long at all, so we wait for about 5 minutes and all take our picture.

We then start to make our way over and come across our favorite umbrella. Each trip we take a picture here.

We make it to the Backlot Tour. Some of the special effects in movies are facinating to see how they are made.

Love the umbrella shots...our first trip my DD wasn't heavy enough to turn it on so this wonderful man came over, picked her up, hit the square, put her down and ran out so I could get the picture.....magical memories.

I would have loved to meet up! How much fun would that have been?! When I get home this afternoon I'll post some pictures that I have from that night too!

What a nice man!!

This is kinda our tradition. We always take a picture here. We couldn't make it rain this time. But we took a picture anyway.

Great updates! I'm so sorry that the rain messed up your plans! UGH! I agree that those skies look terrible!

Looks like a great morning in DHS too!

These are pictures from that stormy evening.

When I left off, we were on the Backlot Tour. When we were done here, it was time to use our fastpasses for TSM. We love this ride, probably along with everyone else.

If you remember, Madi wanted popcorn and guess what, she still does. We decide to head toward Sunset Boulevard to ride ToT and RNRC. We pass near the only popcorn stand we have found open in HS and get Madi some popcorn. She is so excited. :cheer2: I am the only one who will ride ToT and the wait time was about 45 minutes, so we check out RNRC. The wait time is only about 20 minutes. Shannon and Jaden wait in line to ride, while Madi and I find some shade to enjoy her popcorn. They are off the ride before you know it, there is no way the wait was 20 minutes. While waiting, the wait time jumped to 30 minutes then 40 minutes then back down to 15 minutes. When they get off, Jaden and I take our turn to ride. We didn't wait that long either. After we all ride, we head back into the gift shop. Jaden decides on a chain, I get a trading pin and FIL plays guitar, so we get him a guitar pic. When we are done, we check again on wait time for ToT, still long. I decide that I don't want to wait that long just for me to ride and I know that we will be back to HS again later in our trip. We make our way out the park, stopping in a couple of shops on the way out.

Here are a few PhotoPass pics:

Notice how Madi's bangs are wet. Well, she loves Grease. She was taking her misting fan and wetting her hair to make it look like Danny's curl. :rotfl:

We have an ADR for the Hoop-De-Do-Review for 9:30pm. We head back to the resort to rest a little. We stop to take these few pictures at the hotel:

After the girls have a little swim and rest, we head to Fort Wilderness. We have to take the bus to the MK, then take a boat to FW. We arrive a little early and just hang around for a while. Last trip, we arrived early for the HDDR, and Jaden got to ring the bell to call everyone in for dinner. She also received a certificate. She was so excited.

Image0005.jpg

While waiting, Madi makes a friend and they are also from Louisiana, small world. Right before they open the doors, a server comes out to choose who will be ringing the bell. They ask the little girl that Madi made friends with to ring the bell, but she doesn't want to. So who gets asked next, Madi. And she immediately goes with the server. She is getting to be such a big girl, I still think of her as my baby.

Shannon loves the HDDR. Last trip, we had the Luau planned. We arrived at the Polynesian and it started storming, so it was cancelled. So, we had 2 table service credits available on our Dining Plan. We tried every restaurant we could think that we would have like to try, but no avaiability. The only thing we could find was the HDDR. This would not have been my choice, but it was better than losing the credits. Much to my surprise, the food was delicious. Salad, fried chicken, ribs, baked beans, and some of the best corn bread I have ever eaten. Now, we love it. This is definately a place I would recommend. The entertainment is a little corny, but we like stuff like this. Jaden likes playing the washboard.

What a small world! So far it looks like we were in different parks.

You guys did so many things that we didn't get a chance to. I'm making a list of must do's for next trip! The 1900 PF b/f looks like fun. Hard to find some of those characters in the parks. We absolutely loved the ddp. 100% worth it. HDDR looks entertaining, cool Madi got to ring the bell for the 2nd time.

Absolutely love the tiger tees!! Can't wait for day 3.
