Water park shoes?

I have not been to a water park for several years. We plan to go this summer due to the free water parks on arrival day offer. Will we need water shoes or are bare feet ok? It will be August so it will be HOT so I am thinking we need something on our feet so we don’t burn them on the pavement but maybe not. Thoughts?
I absolutely recommend AT LEAST slippers in the parks. The barefoot ground will burn you, even with sunscreen.

Are Tevas allowed as water shoes? They are basically plastic and Velcro. What about regular Crocs with the strap you can flip around back?

I’d hate to shrewd my feet then have a week of park walking.
Crocs will not stay on, even with the strap around back, so they probably aren’t allowed.

I’m team water shoes just because for me it adds a little grip while walking around on the wet slippery hot pavement . Plus I would not go into the restroom barefooted. Bought cheap ones from Amazon like another person posted and they worked great.

I was just thinking the same thing! I've been to WDW a bunch of times but never been to a water park. Because it's free, we are giving it a shot this summer. We already have Crocs and/or Tevas that we are already bringing. It would be nice to not have to pack something extra!

The issue with this is that they are bulky
Water shoes are designed like a second skin so they shouldn’t feel like you’re wearing anything at all

I’m sure you can wear them if you want but I wouldn’t find it at all comfortable in the water

I looked over all of the WDW Park Policies I could find and there is nothing that specifically says Crocs or Tevas are not allowed. It's been a long time since I've been to any waterpark so I'm gonna try them for my trip next month and I'll update when I get back!

watershoes unless you can tolerate hot florida concrete floor heat on your feet

Please do update! I am going in four weeks, and I cannot find water shoes that fit. I may have to wear my Chacos (like tevas) if they are allowed.

I have worn Crocs (Litestride sandals, not the clog style) and Teva Hurricanes to and from Typhoon Lagoon but I always change into water shoes when I get there, because they will not allow you to wear sandals like that on the rides. These are the water shoes I got. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XJB4FP3?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1&psc=1

Depending on how desperate you are... I got these cheap ones off amazon because my feet vary so much in size with swelling and the velcro let me adjust a lot. They worked ok for waterparks, no issues on the slides. Sand gets into them so I switched to normal sandals for going to/from waterparks. Threw them out at the end of the trip as the sand would not come out, but I didn't expect them to be keepers anyway so I was fine with that.

I'm so glad I saw this thread! Going for the first time and I never thought about the hot concrete even though I'm scorched at the pools! Just didn't dawn on me. Thanks.

OK. So I'm back. Blizzard Beach was absolutely amazing. I had no idea what the water parks would be like but we had a blast! I wore Crocs on Cross Country Creek (lazy river), Melt Away Bay (wave pool), and Teamboat Springs. I ended up taking them off and going barefoot for Snow Stormers, Summit Plummet, and Tobaggan Racers. I definitely could have worn them on Snow Stormers and Tobaggan, but they would have been a problem on Summit Plummet--I guess I could have held them but I was already holding my hat and sunglasses. The pavement was definitely hot but not unbearable in barefeet. They have sprinklers that spray the walkways to cool them down (I thought they were for the plants, but they were directed at the walkways).

Because it was August and a storm came in we didn't get to do the other slides which was fine because Summit Plummet was super intense and super fun. We watched the storm roll in from the top of the slide and thought we might need to walk back down. We lucked out. They cleared the water about 15 minutes after we did Summit. Our room was ready at that time, so we left.

FWIW, I would definitely pay to do the water parks--they are so much fun!!

They do spray parts of the walkway with water, but it’s still hot. Also depending on the time of year, palm trees shed these spikey things. Been living in Florida over 2 decades and not sure what they are called. But they hurt to step on. My palm trees are shedding them right now.

I wear water shoes at the water parks. Current shoes are Reel Legends that were on clearance for a couple dollars a few years ago. They have held up very well.

We did Typhoon Lagoon yesterday, and I ended up going barefoot because my water shoes were rubbing my feet. In the morning, the pavement wasn’t too hot, but the concrete took a toll on my feet. I ended up wearing my flip flops to the bottom of the slides and then leaving them near some chairs while I did the slides. I will try to get better water shoes for future.

If I am going for a chill day, I wear my OluKai slippahs. If I'm going to be in ride-warrior mode, my Teva sandals. Either way, I wear them up to the slide entrance, and take them off and leave them nearby. The slide entrances/stairs/etc. are usually watered, so they are not too bad.

And note to self: When it is time to replace the OluKais, these might be a good choice. Made in the islands.

I noticed that lots of people take off crocs, slides, tevas, etc. at the bottom of the stairs before going up to the top of the slide. It was like 95 with a feels like of 101 when I was there last week and the pavement wasn’t too hot. I thought it might be like scorching your feet on hot sand at the beach, but wasn’t anything like that at all, especially with the water they spray on the walkways and stairs up to the slides.
