Well, I just called Disney and canceled our APs, January Fort reservations, Hoop-de-Doo reservations, and two other dining reservations. The only thing to that is I should be getting back a plenty of money.:thumbsup2

No worries, though. We're planning to go in either December, 2011 or January, 2012. We've had some unexpected financial hits recently come up so I'd rather go when I'm not so concerned about spending the money than having to watch every dime and not really enjoy myself. Surprisingly, the family was very understanding and we're going to do a few things cheaper instead.

So, has anyone been to Great Wolf Lodge? Our boys love swimming and a January trip to Great Wolf Lodge would be perfect. I'm also planning another Myrtle Beach trip in January as well. Indoor pools are a wonderful thing.;)

But for those who've been, I'd love some tips and advice. Both Concord and Williamsburg are equally close. Thanks.

There is a Great Wolf Lodge near work in Grapvine, Texas. We stopped by there one weekend to check it out. The building is quite impressive. It wouldn't be someplace I would stay because of all the kids and noise. I can see, though, that a family with kids would enjoy spending a couple days there. Be prepared to spend $$ for all of those things the kids just can't live without. They have a spa for young girls http://www.greatwolf.com/files/ScooopsMenu_0.pdf that is quite pricey. They have a scavenger hunt that starts with the purchase of a magic wand that you could modify for additional $$. The kids then make their way around the entire property to solve some mystery.
"MagiQuest® Slaying a dragon? Helping the Pixie restore her magic? It's all part of MagiQuest®, a one-of-a-kind, live-action adventure game. Armed with high-tech wands, your family must solve magical challenges throughout the resort to gain powers (and points) and move to higher levels of the game. Wand - $14.99 Game - $11.99".

Your kids will have a great time. Doesn't sound very relaxing for adults to me. If that's what you decide to do, have a great time!

Pardon me if I'm confusing you with someone else, but don't you homeschool? If you do, I believe there are homeschool discounts available for GW in W'burg. (Maybe in Concord, too, but I'm not sure.) Might help save a bit of $$.

Yes, that's us. Thanks for the tip. I'll definitely check. I'm also a firefighter with Raleigh and someone told me today they have a "heroes" discount as well. I'll see what I can get.

I know nothing about Great Wolf Lodge.

But the CEO of the company was on the show Undercover Boss last week.

And I learned something important.

If you hear them announce that there is an AFR in the pool, stay out!

We have a Great Wolf Lodge about 1.5 hours a way from us in Charlotte NC. I have been there, but only to tour the facility. It is a really beautiful place...however, it is (IMO) extremely expensive for what you get.

we have been to the one in PA,
the food was horrible, but the pools were nice and the space was VERY clean, we would go back
but not on a weekend or holiday, they can get super crowded

we had a good discount code, PM me if you want it

I've been to the one in Niagara Falls twice and it's great for kids. We only stayed one night each time because we thought two nights might be too much for our young kids (3 and 6). Check in time is 4pm but you can arrive early and start using the waterpark at 1pm. Check out is 9am but you can use the waterpark the entire day until they close. Because it's expensive to stay there we took breakfast with us. The lunch we had wasn't too expensive but it wasn't great. The kids absolutely loved it and it was fun for my husband and I too. I didn't find the chlorine too bad and the temperature was just right. Every night they have story time in the lobby and the kids can go in their pajamas, which they loved.

I've always wantedto stay at one ,,never have. Even went as far a receiving literature from them,,just never got around to them.
Certainly looks like a nice fun place.
