I'm trying to determine if we can do this budget-wise.

Has anyone been to GWL and played this recently? If so, I'd love to know the price of a Magiquest game.

Another mom and I are taking a bunch of girls from our jump rope team out to Ohio for a workshop, and would love to swing by GWL to play Magiquest as our Saturday evening activity. We have wands that the girls could share (they are old enough to share with no issues), so we'd just need to activate a few games. I don't want this to be a major expense, though, on top of the trip, hotel, workshop, etc.

TIA

I don't know your answer, but just want to be sure you aren't going to stop by the Sandusky location, because they don't have Magiquest.

Thanks for the heads-up about Sandusky. We'll be going to the Cincinnati/Mason GWL. It's listed on the site as having Magiquest. That would have been terrible to have a a bunch of disappointed girls.

At the KC location which we go to a lot, the basic wands start at around 15 and go up. There is a 10 fee per wand to play but you can play the whole time you are there. The kids especially my son seem to really enjoy playing and even my husband has his own wand.

It sounds like you just want to stop in and play, not actually get rooms and swim--correct? I don't know if they allow that. I would check with them and confirm before you set this all up. I know it's cheaper if you already have a wand.

FWIW, my kids absolutely loved doing it, and DD9 and DS6 shared a wand, no problem. We had them alternate who held it during the different levels. I don't know if more than 2 kids per wand would work so well.

Yes, you can stop in to just play magiquest. It is 10-15 dollars per wand to activate the game.

I live in Mason! If you need any restaurant/activity suggestions, just let me know. We stayed/played at DS7 birthday party last September, the fee to play was reasonable, less than $20. I would call and ask what the current rate is. The session is also good for maybe 4 days? It was great for us, we stayed one night and then just drove over finished up Magicquest the next two nights.

Have fun! We had a great time!!

There are two outlets close (20-40 minutes) by, including a Pottery Barn/PBK outlet.

And a bunch of great local pizza places to boot.

Thanks for the outlet suggestions! I'm hoping we can take turns venturing out during the day, so I'd love to get some shopping done!

The workshop is at Mason Intermediate School. Do you know of any pizza or family-friendly restaurants that are close to that school? Are there ample fast food places right there? We arrive early Friday evening, but the kids are signed up for private lessons, so I have a feeling we won't have time for a sit-down meal that night. I'm hoping we can go out for a non-fast-food dinner Saturday. There is supposed to be a really good ice cream place nearby????? Thanks for any suggestions!

Yes, yes, yes. MI is located at the intersection of Tylersville (goes East/West) and Mason-Montgomery (goes North/South). All traditional fast food (McDonalds, Chick Fil A, etc.) is probably a 5+ minute drive South on Mason-Mont, or West (towards I-75) on Tylersville. Closest places (fastish food) are Subway (<5 minutes) North on Mason-Montgomery or Culvers (frozen custard, burgers, chicken sandwiches) or Marion's Piazza/BW3s, both West on Tylersville. Seating is never a problem at any of these places, and service is quick....oh and across from the Subway is Busken Bakery (another Cincinnati tradition) if the girls need any donuts, cookies, treats. Their hours are more limited.

If you have a bit more time and want some OUTSTANDING pizza/salads/desserts, go with Dewey's pizza. This is also West on Tylersville, close to I75 near where all of the fast food/big box retail stores are. Adjacent to this is Graeter's Ice Cream (two locations in/near Mason). This is probably what you heard about...all of the above stores have websites to further check it out, call about pricing.

Marion's piazza is a Dayton, OH tradition, that just recently opened in Mason. They are a very, very family friendly, thin crust pizza place. If you call ahead, they should be able to 'reserve' a couple of 8 person tables there. You will have the easiest time sitting together as a big group there. It isn't a fancy place, pay for pop by the can/pitcher (no refills), you seat yourself (they bus tables after you leave), you pick up your pizza/drinks yourself...but it is easy to sit there and very relaxed.

Have a great time!!! The Comet Skippers (mason's team) are pretty amazing! They start clinics for the kids in the first grade.

Getting around will be pretty easy/straight forward for you. MI is perfectly located at the crossroads to these two major streets.

Feel free to PM me...I couldn't figure out how to PM you.

Thank you for all of the information!!! How nice to have found someone who knows the area first hand:cool1:.

Yes, that team is amazing. My kids have been on a jump rope team for 4 years, and would love to one day jump like those experts that are running this workshop. I can't wait to see the staff show that weekend.

You've been very helpful. Thanks again:thumbsup2

In June we went to Magicquest in Niagara Falls Canada. I paid in the $60 range for two wands and two games. the wands were about 2 dollars more than the basic wand. I don't recall if I paid in Canadian or US dollars. since we were not hotel guests there was a time limit on the game time maybe 4 hours.I think it took 2 to 3 hours to finish the first set of games and become a magi master. it was really fun for all 4 of us and lots of exercise.
