Great weekend at VWL

Just got back this afternoon from 4 n / 3 d at VWL and I wanted to tell all of you VWL owners how much we enjoyed your home! We thought both the lodge and the villas were comfortable, homey and beautiful. The staff was friendly and the buses were prompt. We had a dedicated studio on a corner of the 4th floor which provided us with both a woods view and slight view of the pool - which was a perfect combination. We thought it was a good sized unit and I really liked the split bath and thought the kitchenette area had ample space and was well stocked. We had dinner at Whispering Canyon Sunday evening and it was a real hoot - a lot of fun.

The only things I would say that we were disappointed in was that we would've liked to have had a safe in the unit and the mattress on the sofa bed was a poor excuse for a bed (even our 10 yr old DS hated it). I hope they upgrade them for you soon!

Looking forward to having time to go back one day!

We had a great time but the weather in FL this past weekend left a LOT to be desired! It was not your typical hot, tropical weather - foggy, cloudy, drizzly & 50's/60's most of the day on Sat. By the time the sun came out (about 2:30) we had put on warmer clothes and had gone to the MK! Then it was only mid-50's on Sun. with a stiff wind and 40's in the eve. . Finally, it got into the mid 60's yesterday so the only time we found for the pool was for about an hour yesterday afternoon and we went to the main pool for the lodge 'cuz DS wanted to watch & wait for the geyser to go off! AND it was too cold for me to not be in a hot tub so that seemed like the only way to please both of us!! But so those bubbles we saw in it are new? They looked pretty cool...hopefully next time we'll get weather that cooperates so we can try both pools!

There were always bubbles. However, when the pool was refurbished, I think they brought it up a notch! You feel like you're traveling upstream like a salmon as you swim through one them. Of course, I am getting older...but hey, that's what it felt like to me! Definitely fun!!!!

In regards to the sofa beds and mattresses, another Dis poster, Peepster, stayed there for 11 nights in December. She had some maintenance issues and ultimately spoke directly with someone at management at the VWL. They confirmed they will replacing all the mattresses and sofa beds by July. Also their GM announced it in the Member Meeting back in December. So keep your fingers crossed it is true.

Glad you had a nice stay. Did you look in the long closet by the sink? In the back of that closet is where the safe is - at least every time we have gotten that room or a studio in the same location that is where the safe was. Not an immediate place to look - kind of hidden.

I am glad that you enjoyed our beloved lodge villas. It would definitely be great if they would upgrade the pull outs soon.

I guess I could've missed it, but I looked in both closets at least 3 times bcuz I couldn't believe I couldn't find one...is it recessed IN the wall or is it a separate movable unit?
