Great weather, great food, great trip: 6/22-6/29 (LOVED IT!)

They were my favorites in the whole place - I wish I could take them home with me. I did like the Ice room too, loved the colors it changed to. I very glad we went and will probably go back again on our next trip!

We sat in front of the wooly mammoths on our trip in January! They were pretty adorable.

I'm so jealous, I wanted to try TRex out. We even had reservations for 11 am on the day we flew out. My worry wart/fun sucker sister was convinced we wouldn't have enough time so we blew it off. I think DH was secretly happy we missed it since he wants to go there and he didn't come on this trip.

Of course just more reasons to go back.

Definitely a reason to start planning another trip! I really, really like it there (and not for the food.) Food was fine, but not the reason for going (IMHO.)

Day 2 Part 1 (Tuesday, June 23rd):

Early Tuesday morning we had some wicked thunderstorms. I'm a pretty light sleeper and hear quite a bit. It was about 5am and a very loud toddler was up crying in the room next to us - I'm thinking they were scared out of their mind because the thunderstorms were that bad. The bad part is that I normally wake up at 5am for work, so my body was ready to go, but no one else was near being up. I laid around in bed and finally got up and showered around 6:30 and woke everyone else up at 7:30 to get a start to our day.

Side story: Joe thought I brought the toothpaste, I thought Joe did and I ended up having to use Dan's Oral B Cars Fruit Pursuit toothpaste (tasted like bubble gum!) We did buy adult toothpaste later in the day. ;)

We headed down to the Boardwalk bakery for breakfast and then over to Epcot for a 9am opening.

I was shocked that we got through the turnstiles @ 8:45am. This is the first trip in many yrs in a row that we weren't held at the turnstiles until 9am. Joe and Kerry got to the RD that was the group heading for Soarin' and Dan and I went to the RD that would be for TT. This is our normal plan, Dan and I stroll to TT and wait for Kerry and Joe, who high tail it over to Soarin' for our FPs. This yr, Kerry did much dodging and weaving and did the FPs. People would make comments like, hey kid where's your parents and stuff like that because she's extremely petite. One guy at Soarin' was saying she probably doesn't even know how to work the FP machines. Kerry just laughs!! :rotfl:

Here's a picture of Dan that I got while we were waiting for the rope to drop:

I also got a nice one of the monorail - Dan has always liked the monorails and comments on the color of the train whenever we see one (Black monorail Mom!):

This next picture is right after they dropped the rope, Dan and I were in no rush since we had to wait for Kerry and Joe, so I snapped this one:

We finally catch up with Joe and Kerry and head for stand-by on TT, it was like a 10 minute wait (really wasn't though!) Here they are waiting for our car to come:

Disney2009084.jpg

After we got off the ride, my mom and Aunt call and say they finally made it to the park. We ended up riding TT again with them. After TT, we headed over to Finding Nemo and rode that. There was absolutely no line for Finding Nemo either. After Nemo we decided to have an early lunch and stopped at Sunshine Seasons. This is one of our faves!

After lunch it was off to ride Soarin'. We enjoy Soarin' and always ride it, but we definitely enjoy TT more - speaking for everyone in the family.

After Soarin' we decide to go back to hotel to take a nap and go swimming.

Our our way back to the room, we saw Alice & Mary Poppins in the United Kingdom - so of course we had to stop and get some autographs and pictures.

Now we are on way back to BWVs.

Coming up next is dinner at Boma @ 7:15pm.

That's too funny about the toothpaste! Sounds like something we would do.

Sounds like you had a great morning at Epcot. We were in AK this morning and the humidity was very thick. We hit TT way more times than Soarin' on this trip. For a trill I do like it more, but to relax I like Soarin'. I won't touch Mission Space.

Ready for Boma!

We hit AK later in the trip and the humidity wasn't that bad, but you went early in the week and no matter where you were it was bad (temp & humidity.)

I've never ridden Mission Space. Ever since I had kids, my equilibrium is all out of sorts so I know better than to try to Mission Space, I don't want to ruin my day - no loss on my end though, I do just fine without it! :thumbsup2

As we were heading back to our car we walked by the Lego place and had to stop for this picture:

We have a Basset named Chase (have a Springer named Clyde too) and we couldn't help but think of him when we saw these cuties above!

We have a basset named Daisy Lou! She's a little old lady now (12), but she actually did look like the Lego basset when she was younger. They're a great breed! I already told DBF that we WILL be posing by the basset for a picture. Combines one of my loves and one of his-- dogs and Legos!
I really am loving this TR-- and thanks for the food pictures!!!

Daisy Lou, what a great name! Our's is a Tri just like the Lego one - he's a devil dog though - bad to the bone, but adorable! We adopted him from the local animal shelter back in December.

He's kind of on the small size:

Day 2 Part 2:

We drove our low-rider mobile over to AKL around 6:30pm. We meet up with my Mother and Aunt in the lobby of AKL (this is where they were staying), we have a seat in the lobby and relax for a little bit. Joe and the kids go into the store right there to look around and kill some time.

Here's a couple of picture of the kids waiting in the AKL lobby:

At about 7pm, we go check in at Boma for our 7:15pm ADR. We waited less than 5 minutes to be seated. I didn't get any pictures of our food here. I'm actually having a hard time remembering what we ate. I enjoyed myself as did everyone else, but I didn't write it down, so it's hard to remember. I know that my favorite thing was the pork. The pork over on the carving table was delicious! They had B-B-Q sauce right there too and it was yummy. I went back for seconds on the pork and sauce. I had some seasoned potatoes too, using the B-B-Q sauce on them also. They also had a creamy I believe it was lobster (definitely seafood) soup - very yummy. No zebra domes for me though, I don't like them. They have liquor in them and I can taste it and I just don't care for them!

After dinner, we decide to all pile back into the low-rider and head back to BWV so that we could walk over to Epcot to watch Illuminations. By the time we get back to BWV and start the walk over to the International Gateway entrance, we have about 15 minutes to get there before it starts. My Mom and Aunt are not the fastest walkers and I didn't want them to feel like I ditched them, so I continued to walk at their slow pace - while Joe and the kids were at a faster pace and I could see them getting further and further ahead. Now normally this wouldn't bother me, but he had my pass! When we got up by the ticket windows, I happened to look over by the bathroom and there were Kerry and Dan - thank God! Turns out the reason for the rush, Joe had to use the bathroom and he shifted his walk into a higher gear. So we all caught up to each other, went in and literally had about 2 minutes before the start of Illuminations.

We ended up watching from the bridge between UK and France. I didn't have to be in the front row because we had seen it many times before, but I just like being there. We have the CD and listen to it all the time, the kids request it a lot. But, it's really cool when you can listen to the music and see the fireworks at the same time. I love, love, love it! After the fireworks, my Mom and Aunt walked to the front of Epcot and took the bus back to AKL, while we dodged the traffic and walked back to BWV via the International Gateway.

On the way back I decided to try some night pictures. Here's how they came out - not that great, but I'll give myself an "A" for effort!

I actually thought this was a really good one of the bakery:

Coming up - Wednesday, 6/24 MK for RD; come see us conquer a park and characters....

Thanks! I don't have a tripod, if I did they would have come out better. I had to balance the camera on the rails of trash cans when I took the night pictures.

I like your night shots, especially the Spaceship Earth one.

I brought my monopod but it never made it out of the suitcase.

That's so funny! Where were you? We were 2nd floor of 60s building 3rd from the end past the kiddie pool. There's another poster (and trip report) from a family that was there too and they were two floors above me :rotfl:

My FIL has one of them that he uses at Kerry's gymnastics meets. I almost bought a small tripod for the trip, but then decided not to - for the exact same reason you gave, I probably wouldn't of brought it with me to the parks. I'm not a die-hard photographer, but just snap shots on a whim.

Cool! There were a couple of Dis'ers down at the same exact time. I wonder if we ever walked past others and didn't even realize it. Hope you had a great trip!

Were there 6/21-6/28. Love reading other families' experiences!
