We were lucky enough to get the Dolphin for $81 on Hotwire thanks to great advice from Jim's site. We were there from 4/25-4/30 in a great room with a view of MGM, the Boardwalk and parts of EPCOT.
The location can't be beat and it is a beautiful hotel with great amenities.
I've stayed at the YC,BW and the Poly and i'd say I prefered the Dolphin to all of them. They are all great hotels, but I prefer the combiation of great location and great pool area that the Dolphin has.
Don't get me wrong, we all loved Stormalong Bay, but I felt all the lounge chairs were squashed together because there wasn't much space to spread out. I also didn't like having to go across the sidewalk to get to the entrance of SAB's waterslide.
The Dolphin's pools were set back with a lot of space and a great sandy beach area.
I'll be happy to answer any questions.

What a great deal! Glad you enjoyed the Dolphin! It is my fav too!

Hi,
Glad you had a great trip!! Did you end up with a room with 2 beds or just one? We're leaving next week for our stay (hotwire also) and were wondering what kind of rooms everyone was ending up with. Just didn't want a basement room!!!
Thanks for any input!

I have been waiting for someone with the $81 deal to post about their visit! Great! Since you had a resort view, I assume that was an upgrade from standard room?? Did you attempt to get upgraded to club? Let's hear the details!

We are going to the Dolphin in June!! (for $81)

Maggie
I'd probably still be happy with a basement room!

I didn't try to get upgraded, I just asked for a room with a "nice view".
I called ahead to be sure that our room would have 2 beds and I also asked for non-smoking. I'm glad I did call because for some reason they had noted "smoking" room on our reservation. That surprised me because Hotwire says that the room you get through them will be non-smoking unless otherwise noted.
It really is a nice hotel and the employees were all very pleasent and helpful.
We are really lucky because we also got the same great rate for the Swan for June. My kids can't wait.

Glad you enjoyed the Dolphin! We are also big fans, and I prefer the Dolphin or Swan over the Polynesian any old day!

We love the Dolphin also...please tell us how to get that rate on hotwire.

Thanks

I was also able to get the Dolphin for $81 for our trip in November. This thread is the one that clued me in. However, it appears that the $81 rate is gone for right now. Perhaps it will be back when the Swan/Dolphin releases more rooms.

I used the same thread that Tim E. referred to in order to get info on what hotels were coming up in Orlando. I bid first on my stay in April and that's when I got the Dolphin. I quickly tried Hotwire for the dates in June that we were visiting and cross referenced the info with the hotel icon's listed in Jim's site. I thought the Swan was one of the hotel's coming up and I took a chance and got lucky.
I tried those same dates the next day trying to get a room for a friend, but the rate had gone up to$159. We just got lucky.

We've got the Dolphin for one night in July - to kick off our land/sea vacation. Didn't get the $81 - but $139 - good enough for me - the location can't be beat!

sarha~ Thanks for posting your review :) We will be staying 12 nights (got 2 rooms for $81/nt each) :Pinkbounc I was wondering when you made your request for 2 beds/nonsmoking did you call the Dolphin directly or did you make the rquest online or by calling the Sheraton/Westin reservation number? Thanks!

Onceuponadream, I called the Dolphin directly. I'm sure you could make the request with either #, but I felt more confident speaking with the hotel directly.
I'm sure you'll have a great time!

Sarha, Thanks for posting. I was also able to get the $81 rate for June. I will be there the 11th thru the 15th for my husbands birthday. After reading all the great posts about The S&D I can't wait to get there and experience it for myself.

Okay, am I dense b/c I am just not finding Jim's site that everyone's talking about! I followed the thread in a previous post but did not see the info & I have PM Jim, but he's not responded yet. I'd really like to investigate this further, but I am needing some direction. Help!!
