We are new owners at BCV and are getting ready to take our first trip home in June. I have read so many negative things I'm frankly starting to get a little nervous. Things like, the water pressure is bad, the way the air conditioner works isn't good and worst of all were the ants. I would love to here some positive feedback to reassure me, help!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks,
Michele

Walk to Epcot, boat to MGM, some views are of Epcot and/or IllumiNations, the feeling you are in the middle of it all, walk over to BW, SAB plus the quiet pools, character breakfast...

Hope this helps, but I understand your worries since we just bought there, too! Really hope they get that ant problem under control!

Thanks so much for answering me so quickly. I really was anxious for some reassurance. We have a dedicated 2BR. Our 2 married children are going to be with us with their children, who are 1 & 2, our sweet Grandsons, and I was starting to become really worried. The responses have helped.

Thanks again,
Michele

Don't sweat it! BCV is a great resort. Very bright and inviting. The proximity to Epcot and MGM is wonderful. Also, there is the entertainment at the Boardwalk.

Don't miss the character breakfast at Cape May Buffet just off the lobby area of the Beach Club.

Enjoy!

Michele-
We(Me, DH, 3 children and Mother and father in-law) stayed at BCV last DEC. I was never a big Beach Club Resort fan-too crowded. However, I really did enjoy the BCV. Our room was on ground floor-right by the quiet pool. The kids thought it was "our" pool. We also enjoyed the fun and excitement of SAB.

I loved the location. Each morning I went for a jog/run by all of the great resorts all the way to MGM. The convenience to EPCOT is also unbeatable. It was great to have so much to do in that one location, yet we could really relax if we wanted to by the quiet pool at the villas. There is also a b-b-q near this pool that you may want to use.

My father-in-law enjoyed his nightly (mid-night) swim and dip in the hot tub.

Everyone will have a great time.

I did not notice any A/C issues and definately did not notice ants and we were on the ground floor.

We just got back from a 12 day trip. I posted a report. I did forget to mention about the ants though. The DW had red ants in her suitcase when we left. The water pressure is great compared to VWL. The A/C was not a problem. Just keep the fan on high when you leave the room.
It is also a plus that you can walk to the swan and dolphin ( 6 minutes) b/c you get DVC member 20% discount on most of their restaurants. They have a ice cream parlor that is les crowded and cheaper than Beaches and Cream.
Go and throw towels on the chairs early at SAB to reserve seats especailly with a larger crowd... If you have any other specific questions let me know.....

We stayed at BCV in March and LOVED IT! The pool was great! My kids had a wonderful time. It is a beautiful resort. The walk to Epcot was wonderful. We stayed for the fireworks and just strolled back to our room and it was so lovely.

We all simply loved Beaches and Cream! It is nice place for ice cream (we got the Kitchen Sink) or even lunch.

We can't wait to go back.

I totally understand how LUVMICKEY feels. We are headed to BCV for the first time the week of July 4th. I am very nervous about the red ants. I understand that the bad stuff gets more publicity than the good stuff, but it's a little unsettling. We have been looking forward to this trip for a year. My 2 dd are very excited about SAB. I just continue to pray that everything goes well. The positive feedback from everyone helps.
Thanks, Gayle

Heck, I have ants in my house here in Illinois!

I never saw an ant at BCV during my trip there last July, but let's face it.... you'll be in FLORIDA! They have bugs!!!! :(

BCV is absolutely great! You will love every minute of it. Close to the main hotel, Epcot, MGM, Boardwalk, restaurants, etc.

Don't forget, you can go to the hotel lobby and even experience "Art" the greeter. Have a good trip!

Are you serious? I believe this would be the third report of ants at BCV. I would like to stay there sometime, so I truly hope this is taken care of...

Ants in her suitcase?!? Now that is pretty bad..........................
I hope you called them to let them now.

Just another little part of BCV that is absolutely beautiful - this is a public area that you can sit and relax in. In our 5 days there, we never saw anyone else using this space.

Here is a shot of the breezeway at BCV (and DH):

We have made three trips "home" to the BCVs since last July and never had a bad experience.

We stayed in a dedicated 2 bedroom in July and had a few "maintenance" problems that were all part of the opening of a new resort. Each problem was dealt with courteously and quickly. (DVD wasn't hooked up right, no lighbulbs in second bedroom, etc). In December we had a studio and NO problems whatsoever. We were down again over Easter week in a one bedroom and saw NO ants, no garbage in the halls, our benches were fine and we had no problem with water pressure nor the a/c.

While I agree that the ants need to be dealt with in a timely manner, I do also agree that it is FLORIDA and that those things are part of the ecology there and that these things happen! Besides, the farther north you go the fewer bugs, and I sure wouldn't want to vacation in the COLD north the rest of my life

:p

Enjoy your trip. I am heading to OKW in a few weeks and will be at Vero (where the noseeums are in residence) and BCVs in August.

BTW, I got the worst "bites" I got on a trip were at OKW sitting on the balcony and we once had a lizard in our 2 bedroom there.

Maistre--make it 4 reports, two room reports with ants, one suit case, and one with the car loaded with ants that was parked in the BCV parking lot. They have an ant problem there. This is just a little piece of the world here on this site, I wonder how many people actually have experienced similar ant problems that do not know this site even exists??

Thanks again everyone for the positive feedback. I'm feeling much better about things now that I've read these. With exception to the red ants of course. But we'll just be careful about that. We are so excited about going, we can't wait. We'll be on the Disney Magic going to the Western Caribbean 7 days prior to being at BCV. We almost would rather be at BCV the whole time, but our kids really wanted to do the cruise also. So we'll be at BCV for 5 days after that. We also have a trip booked for the first week of December at BCV. This will be our first time staying in this area of the World, so this will be a total new experience for us. We've always stayed at the Poly.

We are so happy about finally being DVC members. It took us a few years to decide, but we finally made it. We leave home June 19, so we don't have long to wait now.

Thanks again for all your help and the great things you've told me.

Hopefully with several people bringing the ant problem to their attention it will be taken care of soon.

We had a wonderful stay at BCV. There were no ants on our unit. But then again we didn't have any food in the room. The rooms are very nice and we had no problems at all while we were there. We did leave the ceiling fans on in both rooms the entire time we were there and we had no problems with being hot. We had a large balcony that spanded both the livingroom and the master bedroom. It was great sitting there and watching the ducks around the quiet pool. In the morning they do think that the pool is there own personal spa. BCV is a very short walk to EPCOT. That was extremely handy on the day the we had the Drink Around the World Meet.;) We even walked to MGM a couple times and really enjoyed the walk. We went to SAB the first day we were there and had no problems finding a couple of seats. But we did find it to be a bit noisey, so we used the quiet pool after that. It is a really nice pool. We have no complaints at all with our stay. As a matter of fact, when we had our trash and towel we left a message for housekeeping for extra detergent and coffee and they left us 3 of each. I offered to pay, but they refused to take the money when I saw them later that day. When we checked in the CM was extremely friendly and welcomed us home twice.

If I remember right, a couple years ago OKW had an ant problem. There were a number of posts that related stories about ants in the villas. But I haven't seen one recently. I think that eacfh resort has it's spells with those pesky little things.
