My wonderful SIL and BIL are letting us stay with them as guests at their DVC at BWV next June 2013, it is so nice of them as they are also letting our DD bring her best friend. They are the type of people who already buy what they want, so I need ideas on the best way to say thank you. Any great ideas for what we can do for them that is special?

Buying Dinner or a wine/fruit/floral arrangement is always nice. You could have the selection sent to the room. Getting the Photopass might also be a good choice for many and you'd get benefit as well. Speaking as one who does this routinely (invites guests), I'd say that a heart felt thank you will likely be the best present they could have and clearly you already understand the significance of what they're doing for you. Matching shirts might be another option. The possibilities are many, you just have to find the one that feels right for you to express your heartfelt thanks.

I like Jim Shore, so the first time I took my Mom with us she gave me a huge Jim Shore Mickey Mouse as a "thank you". I absolutely love it.

Is there something that they like that you could play off of like that?

Thank you everyone for the ideas. It is so funny that you mentioned the matching shirts as my DD wants to do that for the whole family. Also the CDS tickets as that was something else we thought about.

I would suggest a handwritten letter of thanks once the trip is complete.

If you feel you'd like to do something in addition, a fireworks cruise for the whole group would be great or the MK dessert / fireworks party?

Or maybe after the trip make a scrapbook or have a special photo from the trip framed (or mounted to canvas or glass, tile, etc.) Something they could afford to do but may not consider on their own or may not take the time to do themselves?

Enjoy!

I would love just a great big hug and heartfelt thanks--that is why we invite folks along anyway... My MIL and BIL will go with us in Oct and have their own studio (Mother/Son)...she is a volunteer at the hospital where I work and stopped by today to tell me how excited she was to be going and that she was already packing in her head. She lives down the street and came over tonight for supper and we purchased MNSSHP tickets...so she and DH where standing behind me as I pushed the "buy" button.

I also love the idea of the gift cards, a nice meal and thank you card upon return--but do not expect it. Of course the only folks we take are the two mentioned above and my parents, who feel the same way. I get lots of hugs--even from BIL. :lmao:
