We just returned from our second trip to SSR and had a wonderful time. This resort has really made us happy about our DVC purchase. We arrived on 6/20 from Philly and were assigned two studios in the Paddock (6432 and 6436). Both rooms were in great condition, well cleaned, and the views from the fourth floor are really exquisite. We could see the pond areas, the walking bridge and the Wishes (MK) fireworks display from our balconies. The Springs pool area was quite active in the afternoons, but at no time did we feel that it was overcrowded. The quiet pool area at the Paddock was really nice, too. It was convenient to swim there and do laundry when needed. We did rent a minivan for our stay (there were 6 of us) and used that more than the buses for our transportation. However, when we did use a Disney bus, the wait times were not long at all.

The parks were busy but managable. We know what rides to Fastpass and plan breaks in the shade (with a Dole Whip or Mickey bar, of course). One day we arrived at Animal Kingdom early (8:30ish) and were glad we did because everyone appears to know about the rush to Expedition Everest when they "officially" open the park. That ride was worth the price of admission alone! Love that Yeti!

Thanks to all of you that have shared great advice in "managing the trip to the Mouse". We love visiting WDW and can't wait to plan our next adventure!

Thanks for the TR. Sounds like you had terrific rooms and a great vacation :thumbsup2

You can see Wishes from the Paddock area???!!!!??? That sounds wonderful - I thought only the monorail resorts & a few rooms at WL had those views. Can anyone else confirm?

Thanks for the report - we are looking forward to our SSR trip in December!

I think we were able to see the fireworks so well was because our studios were on the side of the building, and we were on the fourth floor way above the tree line. The fireworks, of course, are far away but we had some clear nights, and it was delightful to watch. A perk for the Paddock, hooray!

Great report!! :woohoo:

I really miss SSR!

I watched Wishes from the main street of SSR last time we were there. I was surprised to see MK fireworks as I was walking back to Congress Park. You can also see the Epcot Fireworks from the viewing area.

If you have never been to SSR, you would think it is out in the boondocks by some of the comments here, but if you look at a map and see how it is situated, you find that it is really close to 3 of the 4 parks and 1 waterpark and DTD.

MK is whats in the boonies. I love MK, but not the location of the Resort Areas.

Thanks for your trip report! I love SSR and am glad others do too. We saw fireworks when we were there in December but am not sure where they were coming from. The parks had already closed and these went on for a long time! It was spectacular! :thumbsup2

ITA :thumbsup2

When the kids were small & we spent most of our time at MK we stayed CR-Tower & loved it BUT.... now it really does feel out of the way.

So glad to hear you had a gr time at SSR. DW and I traveled with some friends who are already DVC'ers (we were not at the time) the first week of June. We all stayed at BCV in a 2 bedroom and really enjoyed our stay (also, we watched Wishes from our balcony almost evey night on the 5th floor). DW and I enjoyed our experience so much we bought into SSR when we got home. We have a trip planned for Sept and will be staying in SSR and are really excited about it. Thanks for the great report which just adds to our excitement!!

Glad you had a really good time.

Could I ask what was the food like there? Any news on the table service restaurant?
26 days till we go !!!

Thanks

My DH and I just bought at SSR in May and I have to say, we didn't buy sight unseen. We are staying at the BWV for our first trip home in September (visited it and fell in love with the BW - DH LOVES the ESPN Club!). I get knots in my stomach when I see all the negative reveiws about SSR. We thought it was beautiful. Once all the landscaping and everything has grown in, it will be great!! I live in New England. So let me tell ya, as long as I see palm trees I am perfectly happy!!! I'll be back a few more times from now until next Sept. and can't wait to stay at SSR ! :woohoo:

I didn't realize you could see any fireworks from SSR. Wow. Now I am even more excited for our trip. Thanks for such a great report.
