GREAT rate at National!

Thanks :) I just saved more on my October rental. The total dropped from $189 to $148 when I used the American Express contract code (thanks Steve) and the Entertainment book $20 off coupon. That's for 10/27 - 11/1. Just made my day :Pinkbounc

Steve, where did you find the American Express contract code (5125601) - is there a coupon needed for it or anything? I booked using my American Express card but I couldn't find that code on the Am Ex website. Hope I can use it - love the rate. Thanks :)

I just got $238.52 for a full size for 10 days using both coupons talked about here- is this a good price?

That's not bad Hockey Mom but I would keep watch. My 14 day ressie starting on Sept.27 dropped from $321 to $255. That is also for a full size. I would think you may be able to get it even lower.

I got it on www.mousavers.com. The site has a bunch of codes to use for all the rental agencies. Glad you got a good rate and I wouldn't be wooried about the code.

Thank you ladyjayhawk. I made the ressie (even tho I don't have the entertainment coupon-I'll sign up for free on the website to get it I guess) but I'm still hoping for lower rates. Last timie I went to florida, I paid about $130 including everything for 1 week.

You're welcome. You might post asking someone if they have an extra coupon. I have seen some threads lately offering coupons here in transportation and in the budget board. And if you find even better rates, please let me know! :D

Glad to see some getting good rates. After my July trip where my rate NEVER dropped for the 8 months I had it, it's nice to see some movement from National.

Just wanted to let other know what I noticed yesterday. I had a not so great rate for 12 days EA/Interm. car for Oct. 20 AM to Oct. 31 PM. Total after discount and taxes $332 (priceless and enter.book coupon $20).

yesterday while doing my daily check I saw that the base amount for EA was over $200 (as usual), then clicked on FULL SIZE and the base rate was $186 (I know still high--but stay with me). So I did the number crunch and for $336 total I can get a full size guaranteed. Obviously I changed and will continue to watch for falling prices.

Why did I change you ask? On our last visit (late July 04) the Emerald Aisle was completely empty/Side B at 10:30AM. So we had to settle for an Intermediate (as expected as a member). This was the first time ever in about 20 rentals from EA that we ever had to use an intermediate car. Needless to say, if we HAVE to pay over $300 on our next trip we will gladly pay the $4 increase to be guaranteed a full size car.

I have my fingers cross and will be watching and hoping for better rates (again).

Does anyone have National coupons that they aren't using? We're trying to book with them for our trip in October.

Thanx.

:moped:

i just ordered the entertainment book when it comes i can give you a natioanl coupon if you like just pm me and let me know

You guys probably already knew this but-
This morning I made a discovery, don't know if this is a new thing on National's site-The base rate used to only change if you put in different rental locations ie. MCO was a little cheaper than CCC and depended on the type of vehicle. You could get different disc % by different contract ID's on the same base rates if you didn't change the location (old news right?).

This morning, I didn't change the location or the car type-just the contract ID's and the base rate changed with the contract ID.
For example, with Priceless contract ID got base of $246.23 and $41.04 for extra day, changed contract ID to EC and base went up to $280.29 with extra day at $46.71.

Is this new or did I just notice it today?

mom_rules

have been noticing this for a while.....

unless you use a national code such as "wweb" which seems to have a defined base rate connected to it you will get dfifferent rates depending whether you use priceless or emerald contract id ( and probably other contract ids too )

the base rate does change but in the end we still look at the "bottom line" before making a decision which to go with

Guess I wasn't paying attention-Got an email from FF program with a contract ID for National-tried it on my ressie-gave me a full 20% off (others say up to 20%-usually works out to 5-10%) and with Entertainment coupon saved another $20!

I just joined National's EA yesterday. Can someone clue me in on how it'll work when we get into Orlando? I will have my confirmation email ready with my license and credit card. Do we collect our luggage and just go over across the street to the garage? When I made my reservation, I ordered an Intermediate car. So we can just go to that aisle and are the keys already in the car? I know that I have to have my I.D., etc ready to show to someone at the gate.

thanks.

Yep - after you get your bags, just walk out of the terminal to the parking garage, following the National signs, bypassing the counter altogether. When you get to National's area - you will see the cars parked in rows clearly marked by the type of vehicle - MV, SUV, Full Size, Int, Compact etc.

Right in Front will be an aisle marked "Emerald Aisle" - this is the aisle of cars specially put aside for EA intermediate users - they tend to put all sorts of cars here that are either oddball sizes (PT cruisers, etc.) or overstocked in their rows. In the past - you could even sometimes find a minivan or SUV mixed in with the full sizes and intermediates. Currently - there is a new "Executive Selection" aisle for preferred EA customers - they tend to get all the good stuff.

When you have chosen the car you would like to drive - just load your luggage, and hop in - the keys are in the ignition. Follow the lines to the exit booth - at this booth - you will give the paperwork hanging from the rearview mirror to the attendant, along with any coupons, credit card, etc. A quick run of your credit card, and you are off!

Can someone compare Emerald Reserve to this? My confirmation email says "Your level of service is Emerald Reserve. Emerald Reserve service allows you to bypass the counter and choose your vehicle from the designated row of vehicles you have reserved"

Just wondering how Reserve differs from EA. (I'm renting a full size, so I couldn't do EA)

With Emerald Aisle, there is specifically a row marked Emerald Aisle. You can choose from that row, or from the Intermediate row.

With Emerald Reserve, you are limited to whatever size vehicle you reserved. So if your reservation is for a full size, you can ONLY choose from the full size row.

That's a lot CRCrazy. That really cleared things up!

mom_rules

which FF program do you have?

the priceless code seems to be on par with many top discounts since the base rate is usually a little lower and when they do not charge the concession fee and give 10% discount with their code, it can make the for a higher discount than 10% over all ( in the end it is the "bottom line" that counts for sure )
