Great rate at National

I haven't rented a car in a while, and I actually had waited so late I thought I would pay really high prices, but I booked today for a June 4 rental, returning on June 7. I got Emerald Aisle and I did use a free day coupon, but my total is $48.27. I am very happy with this rate. I do know some things are changing at the Aisle, is it not the best way to go any more? Is that why my rate was so low?

That's an excellent rate. And actually the best rates seem to be had the closer to your travel dates. I usually book ahead of time to make sure I get the car class I need. This time it's minivan. Then I keep checking to see if the price goes down. The last 3 times, my rate total went down between 4 and 6 weeks out from arrival.

I just got on the National website to check my 5 day rental in June - it dropped from $107 to $78!! This is for intermediate, EA, priceless vacation code, and $20 off Ent coupon. I am amazed.

talk about quirky though...first time i did our june 4 to 7 dates

i got the rate of 45.58 ( all taxes in discount plus entertainment free day )

which i went to reserve it, the transaction was not completed ( UPDATE well what i thought was not completed, was, since i just got an email with a confirmation number )

so i tried again

this time it came up 51.21 ( oh well i said, they are probably changing rates on the fly )

then i decided to try it again in a new explorer window.....lo and behold i got the 45$ rate back and this time it went through....

a savings of 10$ off our previous quote....thanks again

My rate has dropped significantly since I first booked -

3/7 - EA Intermediate - $277.39

5/15 - ER Full size - $184.11

I'm using the same dates and codes, they just lower their rates

We used National the end of April and it was great. The line for Alamo was 20 people long and not moving fast...the line for National was 2 people long and moving right along. The cars were nice, you get to pick the one you want, the counter staff wasn't pushy or rude and the location is great, onsite. The rates do go down the closer you get to your dates. I booked and rebooked atleast 4 times. My husband would wait for the daily savings update and ask is it free yet! Have a great trip!
