After checking National, Dollar, and Avis, the winner is Avis! I reserved an intermediate car for 9 days for a grand total of $196.05 with tax and fees included. Dollar's total was 226.63 and National was 259.96 for best prices using all codes and coupons. The rate for Avis was the best available and didn't require any coupons or codes. Woo Hoo! See you all at the Party for the Senses on Sept.29th!
If you're renting with Avis before 12/31/06.............try using AWD discount code K817625.
Also, UUAA036 in the coupon code field will give you an upgrade to the next size car if one is available. (careful though, these days a car that takes up more gas might NOT be a good thing!)
OOps. Forgot to say that K817625 is an Avis code available to everyone, it's on the Delta Airlines website. supposed to be for "Delta Airlines Frequent Flyers"....which you can join online easily if you want to be "politically correct"!
We rented from Avis last trip for a 5 day weekend. We thought they were great and would definitely use them again.
BTW, if you are a Upromise member you can link to Avis through Upromise and save $15 on a weekly rental plus get the 5 percent in your Upromise account.
Or if you are a Sears credit card holder you may be able to get a better Avis rate too. Go to the Sears website and then scroll down the left side until you see Specialty Sites. Go to car rental. It'll direct you to Avis' website where Sears cardholders get special coupons and rates. Sometimes its way cheaper through there, sometimes its way more expensive.
Just thought I'd give you a couple more options to save you more if possible!
