I just wrote a romance novel and sent it off to my step uncle who is acting as my agent. He works for a large publishing company. He called me this morning and said that I have a lot of talent and that my novel should do well. I just have to re write and add a conflict to it. He said that it is "too perfect".:rotfl2:

The couple needs a conflict to overcome. He also said that I need to add at least 200 more pages. I have to google it to see how many typed pages is equivalent to 200 pages. Plus I have to buy a new software with spell check.

He gave me such great encouragement which is more than I can say for the rest of my family. The only others ones who are behind me and encouraging me is DH and my two DDs. Even my own dad was, oh ok that's nice. Keep me updated. :confused3

Who knows you all can some day say I knew her when. :lmao:

That is so amazing!!!! Huge congrats to you! :cool1:

OH I love romance novels, keep us in touch on the publishing. I especially like hunky men devoted to their women.

I read Johanna Lindsey alot...my favorite is "A Rose in Winter"... the character, Christopher, mmmmmmwow.

Congrats! I have always wanted to write a historical romance set during the time of wagon trains and settlers and such... but am too chicken to try. You'll have to post when your book comes out so I can get a copy!

OP, Good work!:thumbsup2

I have a conflict you can add to your story.

How about one person is addicted to all things Disney and the other one couldn't care less????;)

You Go Girl! :banana:I have spent 15 years listening to my ex discouraging me, so I say go for it! I am in the process of keeing notes/diary to write about my current situation, although I think it will a be a fiction.

Thanks to pp who added the link to the writers forum.

Thanks again everyone. Knew my Dis friends would be encouraging me. :)

Just came up with my conflict. Off I go to write.

slaps head- it just dawned on me. I am so so stupid. I wrote the entire novel in single space. Changing it to double space will make a big difference. What a doofus!!! :rotfl2:

It is a wonder Steve was able to read the darn thing. :guilty:

That's wonderful. Congratulations and much support & success coming your way.:yay: Your family should be proud.

Congratulations, that is awesome. I always thought it would be cool to write a book but wouldn't know where to start, so I will be content to just read them :goodvibes. Let us know when it is published so we can go get a copy

:thumbsup2

Wow, I am impressed. Congratulations. I am so happy for you. I'll bet your dad will be impressed when the money starts rolling in and the book hits the book stores. :cool1:.

Thanks again everyone. Very tired, but yet my mind is racing. Need to go to sleep for some rest but yet I find myself doing research for my book. It is so exciting. :yay: I am really getting into this.

Congrats on working towards your dream and one day I hope to be reading one of your novels.
So thrilled for you and thankyou for sharing the good news, keep us posted.

Cheers.

congratulations!!

I have a friend that her mom became a writer and has written 4 books so far that have been published..

How exciting!

I would recommend you to read Stephen King's book (yes, that Stephen King book) On Writing. It explains the writing process, how he got published and all that. It is a great guidebook. I would also recommend Sol Stein's book: Stein on Writing (or somehting like that) Stein's book may be out of print, but you can check it out of the library.. there are very helpful chapters on pace, setting, conflict, paragraphs, etc.

Think of the elements of a story. Google them up if you don't remember them-- I began teaching really basic lessons on this in my 3rd grade class. Don't forget resolution of the conflict as well. You do remember them, you were taught them, but if you don't use the elements every day you will forget.

250 typed words is about one page if that helps.
