Great news!!

I'm a writer myself, with twelve published books and a new one coming out in the spring. I write non-fiction, though, mostly about parenting and related topics, and some of my books are only available in Canada (I'm Canadian). I've had some of my books translated into French, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese and Russian, which is fun! I have copies in all the different languages and I can't read a word of them!

That would be interesting. Imagine that you wouldn't understand a single word written except for the fact that you wrote them.

I already decided I was going to add to it to make sure i at least come up 50,000 words. This way I know for sure it will be considered a novel.

Since you mentioned that this was a romance, I did a quick search and found that Harlequin romance guidelines are slightly different for each "type" but are generally between 50,000 and 65,000 words. That might help you in terms of length. You might also want to look to see if your book fits into any of their categories.

wow...that is sooo awesome

I am so jealous of both of you!!
I think if I wrote, it'd be more of the 'chicken soup' short stories...
or poetry

but..it takes alot of work to get to the publishing point.. congrats!!

Hi there *waves* :) Congrats on getting through the first round of writing!! I love to write and have had stories, ideas, and mostly a large room full of imaginary friends keeping me (in)sane for years LOL. I'm finally about two chapters away from THE END of the first thing I might actually consider trying to sell. My family wasn't very supportive either, so I know how you feel! Luckily I have a couple of great also-writer friends who have been a godsend. My best advice is hang in there and don't be discouraged by people who don't seem super supportive. Listen to the story in your heart and let that guide you.

There's definitely a market for shorter stories, novellas, novelletes, etc. One of my dearest friends got her foot in the door with a short story that was packaged with someone else's short story. Another story she wrote was submitted to the Georgia chapter of RWA and won an award- that story got picked up not too long ago and is going to be published later this year or early next :) So anything is possible!

Keep up the writing and let us know how it goes!

Hey that's great! Congratulations, I'm so excited for you!

Sounds like a possible novel idea?????

Actually I think that was pretty common - back when I was adopted (1949).. Years later (in the 60's) my parents adopted my younger brother from within the family as well (he was my dad's great nephew)..:goodvibes

Well worked on the book some more. Added what I was suppose to add. and proof read it over and over. Was trying so hard to make it go up to 50,000 words to make it an official novel, but didn't make it. Didn't want to make it boring by pushing it. Only has 32118 words. Sure hope that is enough.

Sending it in as is. Sure hope all goes well after all this.

Already have a bunch of great ideas for a "spin off" of this book. :rotfl2: The spin off IMO is going to be more exciting. :confused3:laughing: a lot of twists and turns, so on. Now if only my first one sells and is published, plus does well. Crossing my fingers, toes, and whatever else can be crossed.

Thanks everyone for all the great support, and encouragement!!
