Great News !

Thank you for sharing the great news! I hope things will continue to go well for him!

Oh wow! How lucky then that he got hit in the head with that paintball! (paintballing in Sac? Tht's close to me!)

So glad he's ok now and that you guys are going in Oct!!

Hi Guys !!

I promised that I would update as soon as I had news to update and I think this is the time to do it. For those who know of my fiancee (shyboy72), he had an MRI on Monday. This was a checkup and kind of decision maker of whether or not he has to be proactive and go the next step (which is chemo). Luckily the MRI showed that the tumor in his brain did NOT grow back and he is healthy and healing well !! They said for now, we wait another 3 months and do another MRI checkup. I thank god that he is doing well and has been back to work since July !

For those who don't know, this is the story of what happened to my fiancee :

A couple of months ago my fiance was paintballing in Sacramento. During the tourney he got shot in the head with a paintball gun. It welted pretty good and he was complaining about headaches. He scheduled an appointment with a doctor and he had an x-ray. The techs were a bit worried and had him take another. They then proceeded to give the news
to his regular physician. She said that they found a mass in his brain (this had nothing to do with the paintball injury). They then had him get an MRI to confirm what was going on. During this, we were trying to live life as usual, but when a doctor tells you that you might have brain cancer how can you be calm ?

Anyway, on Wednesday May 30th, my fiancee, his mom, my aunt, and I went to the hospital in Redwood City to meet with a neurological surgeon to talk about his MRI. Pretty much what happened was the doctor explaining that he had to get the tumor out right away and that it looked pretty benign (not cancerous). They at first scheduled it for the week after, but pushed it up to that Friday. This gave everyone a shock because there was not enough time to process everything that had happened.

In the end, the surgery was a success. They got almost all of it out (they couldn't get all of it out because it was by the speech center of his brain and they kept him awake so they could talk to him and make sure they were not damaging him; he started talking funny towards the end of the surgery) and he is now all better and pretty much back to normal. Of course it took a couple of days, but he is such a strong man. I look up to him so much because of how well he handled everything. I was so worried the whole time. I love this man SO much and care about him beyond belief. He is my best friend and it would have broken me completely if anything had gone wrong. By the grace of god he is great. He is such a trooper and I can't believe how amazing he is.

That's awesome, congratulations. Now you guys can begin your new journey without worry. :bride:

What wonderful news!

My dh is a two time cancer survivor. It is such a hard thing to go through, but it sure does make the good things in life (like trips to Disneyland) all the more sweet!

I wish you both many years of happiness together! :goodvibes

So, where do you guys live? lol We are close to Sac too. :)

I'm so glad his diagnosis was good!! I hope it continues to get better!! You guys are going to have the best time in October!! YAY!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! We had to cancel a trip in 2002 due to a cancer diagnosis. Let me just tell you, that when we finally made it to DL a year later the trip was absolutely amazing! Just walking down Main Street knowing the cancer was gone after all we had been through in the previous year brought tears to my eyes. I hope you have the most amazing trip ever! After all this you deserve all the magic Disney has to offer.

Congratulations to you as well !!! Thats so great that the cancer was gone when the trip came along :)

Thanks everyone for all the kind words & support !!!

I actually don't live close to Sacramento, I live in San Jose ;)

We were up there because my boy cousins, dad, and fiancee are all in a paintball team and had a tournament event there !

Aww! Jazzy! I’m so happy he’s better!

It’s kind of weird thinking what if he didn’t get hit by that paintball if he would have ever known it was there, you know? It makes you think the paintball kind of saved his life!!

When you first posted awhile back that you guys had to cancel your trip in June it made me so sad! I would have been a complete MESS if that was my DBF. You’re a strong girl too! I can’t imagine going through something like that with someone you truly love.

Now you guys can go to Disneyland and celebrate! WOOHOO!!!

:woohoo: :woohoo:

Thanks so much :) I know, I was a wreck for a while but I kept it together for him because he needs someone with strength. It wouldn't help for me to be balling all the time. My mom told me its good marriage practice ;)

San Jose!! Ok. I know where that is. :) You aren't that far from me. :)

I had read another post when you were still posting under Shyboy77 and wondered what was wrong. I'm glad you filled us in and that your news is good. We will be missing one person on our Oct. trip who lost their battle with cancer in May so I know firsthand how difficult it can be! Enjoy your time with fam and friends!!

I'm so sorry to hear that. Luckily they said the tumor is relatively benign (they can't give a 100% yes or no because its the brain:confused3 ). I've had family with cancer. Its a tough hand to be dealt, but we are put through these hard times for a reason.

I'm sure we will have an awesome time in October ! Thanks so much :)

Congrats! Sure does prove what I always say, God works in mysterious ways! have a super great time on your trip!

So happy to hear he has made a complete recovery.

We are going in October to celebrate my successful treatment of breast cancer. Last year, it was hanging over our heads, this year I'll be cancer free!

Ooohh! You made me cry when You wrote this...

"I love this man SO much and care about him beyond belief. He is my best friend and it would have broken me completely if anything had gone wrong. By the grace of god he is great. He is such a trooper and I can't believe how amazing he is."

Good Good Thoughts sent to Your family. And I think He's Lucky to have such a sweet girl. I have a feeling He feels the same thoughts that You expressed.

What a wonderful post.:goodvibes
