Well about 3-4 months ago, I was leaving a store and placed my wallet on top of the car to buckle in DS, do you see where this is going?
Well of course I forgot to get the wallet before driving off. Luckily, I didn't have any cash in there. I had all of the credit cards, but I noticed w/in 20-30 mins what I did and called and reported them lost/stolen. The only thing I was really bummed about was that I had a $200 gc in there and some other other items like a pictures from DS and stuff like that. I had written it off a while ago.
Flash forward to this morning. I get a knock at the door. Look through the peephole and it's a cop...>I was like crap.....thinking to myself I didn't do anything wrong, did I???
I open the door. Are you ________? Yes. I think you lost this then. MY WALLET!!!! OMG I was shocked. It really made my day, I started off having a bad one and it turned my day around knowing there are kind people in this world!
Well anyways, my question. I was going thru my wallet....to my recollection nothing was touched. Well I noticed my DS SS card was in there. I know STUPID STUPID STUPID....I don't even recall why it was in there in the first place. My mom used to work at Social Security and I know right now she is turning over in her grave, because if she reiterated one this in my life it was to NEVER leave SS cards in your wallet
I called my mom's friend from SSA to see what I should do...But I am kind of curious? Is he gonna need a new card/number? Should I pull a credit report on him, right now? If I do that, how long should I check it to know he is in the clear? Or am I just being paranoid. I mean if someone was going to steal his SSN why would they turn in the wallet? I really think I am just being paranoid on this. But now I'm just wondering while I'm waiting for my friend to call back. Thanks
