GREAT MS experience!

After reading all these threads about bad experiences I wanted to share a awesome experience I had today!

I called needing to cancel two nights of an upcoming vacation. They are the heavy Fri and Sat nights, so it was alot of points.

We have stripped both of our '06 and '07 Use Years already

Since the two nights we're cancelling were made with borrowed '07 points they would be put back into our '06 UY and would have to be used this year.

We have no more plans for vacations so I was worried about having these points get wasted...since I couldn't bank them.

I thought of being able to rent them out, but it's an obscure number of points so some would have been wasted.

I had a lightbulb moment last night !!

If I cancelled these nights, then applied those points to an upcoming reservation that we made FIRST with '06 points, then....... I could have the '06 points available to BANK!

So, I called this afternoon and explained to the MS CM what I was hoping to do.

She was so sweet! She said she understood exactly what I wanted to do and would be happy to help me.

She looked at the first trip scheduled... can't use them, they're borrowed points too

Next trip... Uh Uh, not them either, more borrowed points

At this point, I apologized for being such a pain and a point hog

She said that she didn't mind, and it was now like a treasure hunt!

She finally found a reservation that we made with our current '06 points and applied the cancelled '07 points to it, and got my '06 points back for me!!

Good for you I'm glad it worked out! I think I'm turning into a point hog too. All 06 and 1/2 07 points are already taken up with reservations. It's so addicting.

You can count me in on the list of point hogs. I do have some 07 points left, but if my waitlist comes through for Thanksgiving at HH, even more of those will be gone. Oh well, in this case, "better a borrower than a lender be." You might as well enjoy those points. I decided there might be a time when we can't find the time to go to WDW for vacation (Dchildren and DGchildren live far away) and then we could get caught up. Hope that never happens, but it might.

MS did a similiar thing for me!! I just did an add on -- points came thru on May 30 for a June use year-- just in the nick of time to get my 2005 points. So MS applied the 2005 points to Nov vacation and allowed me to bank those 2006 points. I thought that was so awesome!! It was the icing on the cake.!! Glad you had a similiar experience too!!

These points are precious when you use them like water!!

I just had to come in here because at the time I saw your thread, the one titled "Bad MS Experience" was right below it.

Anyway - they will do this for you - I've done it many times - as long as the ressies were not made in your home resort period AND the points you wanted to switch were from another resort. Under that circumstance, you would have to wait for the 7 month window and then release and rebook the room with the other points.

None the less - it's the little things that make us so darn happy isn't it???

I was so glad to see this post. I have also seen the recent posts regarding negative experiences with MS. I must be fortunate as most of my experiences with MS have been very pleasant. I think we're all looking for the best way to utilize our points. This week we decided we needed to change some dates of our upcoming 15th anniversary October getaway (just me and DH). It involved canceling a weekend night and adding a weeknight. With a Dec UY I now had points leftover and unable to book. MS helped me book an additional night for our Nov family trip using the exact number of points leftover.

I have always found the CM's at MS to be wonderful and more than helpful every time I have called.
