Great Movie Ride - Western version!

On our trip in early June, we finally got the western version of the Great Movie Ride! I've always heard there were two versions, but out of probably 7-8 trips, we have always gotten the gangster version. When I realized what was happening, I started elbowing my husband, who apparently had no clue we were seeing anything different than what we normally do, lol. I know the ride is being redone, so I was super excited that I finally got to see the other version.

It is so hard to get the western version! I was told they hardly do it any more because the CMs involved in that one need fireworks training or something about the "hazard" of the scene. They only run it when busy or when they have the right people on staff. I've only seen it once as well and prefer it to the gangster scene.

Unless it's a super slow day, then they run both but you just have to be in the right car. One car goes in front and gets the western scene and the second car gets the gangster scene.

So if their loading two cars then their doing both scenes and you'll want to be in the front car

I just haven't seen them load 2 cars in forever. Of course we don't typcially go in the summer so maybe that's it.

They loaded 2 cars on our trip in June. It was a little disappointing because we knew in the beginning what we would get.

You can always request the Western scene when you get to the front of the line. If they are doing both, they will hold you back for the next group and then seat you in the front car.

Having been on this ride probably a dozen times through the years, I have only had the western scene twice

We've tried asking for the western scene, and each time we asked, they said they weren't running it. This was in both Aug and Dec (but a few years ago).

Will ask again next month!

We'd also ridden it dozens of times when all of the sudden it was a whole different scene being acted out! It was so cool!! We've requested it since and each time the CM obliged us.

I could have written this post in August 2015 except that my husband had never been to WDW before and had absolutely no clue why I was hitting him lol.

I didn't know there even was a western scene - thanks! - always got the mob one ... will have to ask on our upcoming trip.

Years ago, it was my DS who figured it out. He prefers the "cowboy" scene over the gangster scene. So one day, when he was about 12yo, he walked up to the CM loading the cars and asked if we can be in the car that shows the cowboy scene. The CM had us step aside. The next 2 cars rolled up and he directed us into the car that would stop at the cowboy scene.

So, if you prefer one scene over the next, just request it.
