I was playing with codes on Alamo to reserve something for the dates we might book if free dining comes again. I got a rate of $278 including all the taxes and fees for a Minivan for 6 days (noon to noon) 7 days was only $10 more but go over that and you add $60 on for 8 days. I have no idea what dates this works for except that I played with dates of 6-7 nights around Sept 20th. Here's what I did. (Please note you have to be a Costco member and have the Entertainment Book) If you have trouble and are a Costco member and have the Entertainment book PM me and I'll try to help.
Log onto the Costco member site go to the travel tab, select car rentals then alamo. Get yourself to the Alamo reservation page. Where it has places for the codes leave the id # they have there, that is the ID for Costco members.
Put in or change the rate code to QVW (note on that rate code below)
Put in or change the coupon code to the Alamo code listed in your entertainment book that gives you ONE FREE DAY (ignore the ID # they list in the entertainment book just use the coupon code)
Note about rate code QVW:
Not sure where it originally came from or why it works on my reservation since the expiration date according to mousavers will be long past but it did. He's what mousesavers has about the Rate Code QVW:
Use Rate Code QVW to get a compact at $249/wk, midsize at $269/wk, midsize SUV at $289/wk, premium for $299/wk, minivan or standard SUV at $319/wk at Alamo. Valid for rentals picked up between 1/07/07 - 3/31/07. Availability is limited and blackout dates apply. Weekly rate requires 5-day minimum, 28 day maximum.
