Great Hotel needed inside:picky

You know...the very quietest stay I have had yet was at POP. I was in the 50's section, bldg 2, third floor, at the very end of the bldg.

Same here. Except we were in the 70's building, near the back...total silence! Funny thing is, we stayed at the GF during a quiet week in December and it was the LOUDEST resort we'd ever stayed at. Their golf cart service/luggage vehicles were everywhere and made a lot of noise (in addition to a gaggle of adults hanging out in our hallway at all hours of the night).

To the OP - obviously you're not trying to avoid kids altogether since you're going to WDW, a known kid haven...but as other posters have mentioned, the resorts at WDW are very large and the quiet zones seem to be hit or miss. Maybe a rental house/condo off property would suit your needs better?

I would suggest the Swan or Dolphin. We have stayed in both and both were very quiet inside of the rooms, plus they have the Sheraton Sweet Sleeper beds :thumbsup2 very comfortable. Being owned by Starwood, they cater more to conventions and such than the Disney crowd.

There will be kids everywhere, restaurants, resorts. WDW is a family destination.

Last year while eating at Le Cellier, an older couple kept giving us the evil eye because of the kids in our party :sad2: (ages 16,12 & 10)
The kids were talking a bit loud, just excited, not out of line, staying in seats, eating normally. It was like they expected an adult atmosphere. :confused3

Try the Swan or Dolphin...we were there in Feb and did not see many kids at all, mostly convention people

NO. I would however look into some VERY high priced resorts in Orlando. Two reasons (1) They have better soundproofing then Disney and (2) at those prices Mom and Dad are probably going to "fork over" for the GF.

Ritz Carlton and JW Marriott come to mind. ON my stay there I found signficantly fewer kids then at ANY Disney hotel.

Most DVC rentals are hotel-like, with the exception of Saratoga Springs and Old Key West. Maybe the Carousel section of SSR? It's at the rear of the resort and more remote. The upside to this for adults would be a walk over to Pleasure Island.

I was going to suggest the same.

you don't want a studio - a 1-bedroom dedicated (no noisey under the door).

SSR doesn't have any dedicated studios.

a 1-bedroom has a full kitchen, whirlpool tub, washer/dryer. Now towalk from Carousel section to DD is a long walk much less PI.

the Congress House is much closer to DD/PI - but it also attracts more kids.

OKW has a few spots that were quiet - but the hurricane torn down the outside trees that make alot of the road traffic go away. So I would give OKW a few more years before you stay there.

SSR has some of the best sound proofing at Disney.

hoping the new AKV will be the same.
