Great Hawaii exchange experiences.........

We are planning for 2007. We were wondering what the best place is to stay in Hawaii through the World exchange program with Disney. Does anyone have great experiences to share or recommendations for those properties on Maui and Kauaii. Maui and Kauaii are our favorite islands. Thanks!

The best exchange to Hawaii is the one you can get! When we did our exchange back in 2002, we kept our requests very open. We said we would accept Maui, Kauai, or Hawaii any time from January through June. We got Kona Coast II(on Hawaii) for our first week (first week of May), and then traded a different timeshare for a week either side of that week on either Maui or Kauai. We ended up in Princeville on Kauai. We have visited Hawaii several times pre-timeshare ownership, and we already knew that our favorite places were on those three islands. Our very favorite is Hawaii because of the diversity there, so we were pleased when that came through first. We had a lovely stay at the KCII and would certainly stay there again. The Princeville stay was at Pahio Bali Hai, and while it was okay, it wasn't the quality of DVC or KCII, and is not on DVC's trade list.

the best values and top choices will be the Marriott's, Embassy's and the Westin. Otherwise it is simply what chances and compromises your willing to take to go to HI. Personally, I'd rent my points and then pay cash for a condo, hotel or timeshare rental for most situations. Of course you could always put in the requests you truly want and see what happens. If you're looking at FF mile tickets, you will likely be out of luck getting your unit prior to the date you will need to get your tickets.
