Does anyone have any suggestions for a great beach destination I could trade for that would not be too hard to get. I'm on a waitlist now for Harborside Atlantis but I am losing faith in that trade on what I have heard on these boards so far. I have promised some members of my family a great beach vacation and need to come through for them. They could not afford a vacation like this w/o our accomodations. Also it can't be too exotic b/c of airfare. We'll be flying out of the midwest so its pretty expensive anywhere. Also there needs to be things to do other than lay on the beach
1:)

Thanks to anyone who can help!!

Sanibel Island was great when I was younger. Don't know what it is like since the hurricane a couple of years ago. There are II exchanges for there(I am sure Dean could give you some advice).

You could do HH or VB with your points. I don't know what time of year you are going, but being a fellow Midwesterner, HH is really nice around Easter time(was there for a business conference,no swimming) but after a long winter it was nice weather!

I don't know to much about the carribean islands as I have just done cruises in that area. The main problem I have is the airfare from Detroit is rather expensive and time consuming.

Have you looked into Vero Beach? If you are looking for that quiet clear water... I agree with Starr W. that Sanibel is great. Don't know of any exchanges there though.

I'd say HH would be my first choice overall. Assuming you are wanting a great resort and beach together I'd add the FL beach Marriott's, FL Hyatt's and several of the Captiva/Sanibel options. You may also want to consider Myrtle Beach. I don't know the TX beaches but you may want too investigate them. Since you were looking at flying to the Bahama's, I'd add Cancun as well as several other MX locations depending on the air fare options from your location.

Destin/Sandestin is a very beautiful beach: sugar-white sand and clear emerald-green water. Lots of action on the strip with everything from a sort of ocean-life "zoo", to outlet malls, to go-carts and mini amusement parks, to restored ships offering dolphin sunset cruises. Plus, Seaside is not far (the picture-perfect town from the film, The Truman Show)

Thanks everyone - great ideas. We will be going any time in the summer and will have all ages with us, from old married couple (me and my husband - okay not that old, lol), our 2 little ones - 8 and 3 - my niece and her new husband - in their 20's, my newly divorced sister - yeah!! - Whole other story - and her two girls 16 and 14. As you can see we need all different kinds of entertainment!! I have never been to Sandestin but have heard it is really nice. We went to Myrtle beach a couple of years ago and loved it - my son wants to move there. Is there much to do at Vero beach other than the resort, I thought I had heard there isn't much to do there. What about HH? Also is it safe to take little ones to Cancun or is it mostly for the older crowd? I would really like nice sand beaches with crystal clear water- maybe the carribean? :confused3 Any other ideas would be great!!:)

Below is stuff to do at and around VB. If you are desiring smaller waves then HH is probably better pick over VB. Anything on the gulf side of Fla will be calm and the sands of Siesta Key are like corn starch.

Whatever you decide... have a great time :thumbsup2

The VB resort provides daily activities for kids & adults with the best CMs of all the resorts.

They have a nice pool & Lighthouse spiral waterslide, a REALLY cool water play area for the real young kids, a hot Jacuzzi, miniature golf, exercise room, ping pong, bike rentals, The Green Cabin Room (bar/restaurant) has 2nd floor covered deck that has a fantastic view of the ocean and is a nice place to relax with your favorite beverage. It also has live entertainment in the evenings. At night they have a campfire / s’more roast (bring the Cutter Advanced to fend off the No-see-ums). You can rent a small catamaran or jet-ski for ocean fun. Across the street they have a lake, picnic tables, nature trail, tennis courts, and basketball courts. Disney built a private tunnel under the road to access this area. And of course they have the ocean and great waves for boogy boarding. Everything from the ocean to the pool to your room is no more than 2 minutes away walking. So it is real easy to break up your day

5 minutes away is Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge and a wildlife education center. Just a few minutes further up the road is Sebastian Inlet State Park were the Indian River meets the ocean. There are many good fishing spots around the inlet, and there are river excursions where you can see dolphins, manatee, and tons of other types of wildlife. About an hour north is Port Canaveral, (where the Magic and Wonder dock), the Kennedy Space Center visitor complex, and Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge with walking and driving tours. 20 minutes south is McKee Botanical Garden (18 acres) with some REALLY cool vegetation and trees. 30 minutes south in Fort Piece is the Manatee Observation and Education Center.

My DH and I went to Aruba a few years back, and it was amazing! We were encouraged by our DVC agent to go there. Plus, Palm Beach is considered on of the most beautiful, and family friendly, beaches in the Caribbean. And we always felt very safe.

I have just started looking into destin fl beaches alot of nice places on VRBO never been there yet
