Great Article Comparing Royal, Disney, and Carnival Cruise Lines

The price differential among lines is so much more pronounced in Alaska, too. I never priced Carnival for Alaska, but did price Princess, HAL, RCCL and Disney. Ended up negotiating itinerary with my spouse to talk him into things - we can visit some family if we sail from Seattle. But we're in a midship Suite on RCCL for less than an Inside Deluxe would have cost me on the Wonder.

Good article. I'm a big fan of the points guy. I'm a bit a credit card points churner. His advice has given me a one week WDW trip for free. It would be a good article to post on the DCL section when people try to argue that DCL is not more expensive.

And that other cruise lines "nickel and dime" (when they are options that you can book in advance if you don't want to receive a huge bill at the end of the cruise).

I think that the tenor of that argument has recently changed to accepting that it's more expensive, given that DCL continues to raises prices in an effort to find that critical point between supply and demand.

Some people will still bring up the soda. The big difference is the number of people in the cabin. If you're a party of two sailing in the off season the price difference may not be huge. For a family of four it's almost at least double other cruiselines. DCL doesn't always sell out it cruises at full price that much I know.

Recently I saw someone say they would never sail RCCL because they charge for some activities on CocoCay. Seriously??? You won't save thousands of dollars on your cruise because it's $50 to ride the water slides? Gotta love the DCL cheerleaders.

I saw the Point's Guy article on Facebook and the first comment was about how much better the service on DCL was compared to the other lines. I could have sworn the article said the crew to passenger ratio was HIGHER on Harmony. We're on Harmony in October and I can NOT wait!

Agreed. I really don't see how charging for the Waterpark is worst than charging for ... Parasailing or Jet Boat or Stingrays on Castaway Cay...

And (as you said) especially after you saved thousands $. You'd think the budget for little extras would be a little bit bigger.

Weird because DCL charges for activities on castaway. Snorkeling, bikes, parasailing, jet skis etc. I guess the slide is free.
