Mickey Mouse pricing on Disney World and Disneyland

Old habits die hard, it seems. Despite the fact that the Disney theme parks are experiencing their best year since 2001 (when fear of terrorists targeting theme parks and a sour economy kept Mickey fans at bay), the parks—and the many companies that sell the parks—are offering the same types of nice discounts they offered when times were rougher.

Among the many interesting promotions are these goodies:

1) A discount of $30 per night at the All-Star resorts of Disney World (lowering the rate to $69 in summer) for Florida residents (ask for code “AZA”). Georgia residents who know the code “BCF” will get rooms from just $59, for the month of June only. These two discounts comes from the Disney organization itself.

2) MouseSavers a website that devotes itself to ferreting out each and every money-saving tip out there (it's run by a fan of the parks, not an employee) reports that folks who use the code “XOA” when they call to book a room may well snag a discount in July. Coded rooms are limited, and the beginning of the month is blacked out (through July 4), but XOA could get you a $25 discount on the “value resorts” (the motel-like All Start) and up to $75 off the more deluxe properties.

3) The “Dream Makers” promotion, open to all, which lowers the cost of a seven-night stay to that of a five-night stay, for travel beginning in early July and going through mid-November. Prices can start as low as $589 in summer for the whole daffy package ($529 during the in-school months). This is also from Disney.

4) Back to Disneyland and a two-night stay at the Anaheim Holiday Inn (at the doorstep of Disneyland). With airfare from Vegas the price is just $144/person from Southwest Airlines Vacations. (Other gateways are available including Boise for $239 and Salt Lake City for $209.)

5) An even better package (we think) from Liberty Travel is one that allows you to stay for four nights at the Anabella Hotel (again right across from the park), enter the parks on a Park Hopper pass for three day (so you get to do California Adventure too), fly in to Anaheim and use an Alamo mid-size car for three 24-hour periods. Best of all, kids under the age of 12 stay and eat free at the hotel. The lowest rate—$499—is once again from Vegas, but there are also decent rates from New York, Boston, Syracuse and Philly ($669); Dallas and Chicago ($649); or Seattle and Portland ($579). Travel is good through the end of August.

6) Finally, Florida specialist E-Leisure Link has extended its fabu $343 special through the end of the year. That low price covers five nights at either the Howard Johnson Parkside of the Sleep Inn at Maingate Walt Disney World, airfare from New York or Chicago (other gateways are available) and five days' rental car. The company warns that there may be some holiday surcharges—so don't be surprised if you end up tacking on another $50 or so over the Fourth of July weekend or Thanksgiving—but it's still a slam dunk of a deal.
