Grease Live is on this Sunday

I was hopelessly in love (still am) with the original movie. This live version has got some OK moments.
But, sometimes you just have to ask why?

I don't know if the songs are pre-recorded, I mean they have been showing the video of Jessie J recording the theme song. But the sound quality is really bad. It's like they're in a tunnel. Maybe something to do with filming outside?

I think everything is live.

I was hopelessly in love (still am) with the original movie. This live version has got some OK moments.
But, sometimes you just have to ask why?

Actually, the stage musical (which I believe this version is meant to be closer to) was the original and the movie came second. That being said, having seen the musical I do think the movie is much better, but it's not a case of messing with the original here.

What I love so far:

Actor who plays Danny
Actress who plays Jan (I am dying she is so funny)
And Carly Rae as Frenchy--perfect casting as far as I am concerned.

LOvED Greased Lightning, Freddy My Love, and Those Magic Changes

What I don't like:
Something about Sandy is bugging me. I think she is doing a fine job. I enjoy her singing. But it is as though costuming and make up were trying to make Olivia Newton John's twin. Especially during the dance. Too much copying.

Also--I did not like the hand jive at all. Too little hand jive. And the new choreography was hard to tell if anyone was doing it.

And Cha Cha was not cast well at all. Given they knew they were going to have Sandy dance way way more than she usually would--for Cha Cha and Danny to win, I expected the dancing to be wayyyyy better. And it fell flat.

On Marty--I was enjoying Keke's performance. But I do see the point that Marty comes across as very mature as opposed to acting very mature.

The people on the bleachers are part of the studio audience, and they're also sort of part of the show, but only some of them are dressed as teens from the 50's. Seeing them dressed in today's fashions takes away from the show a bit.
