Gratuity on Buffet Service

I tip 18% - 20% for a buffet or table service. As previously commented, the servers do the same amount of work. My own personal opinion for myself and my family: we should not punish them because we chose a buffet. :)

Ultimately, this is up to you and you should do what you feel is correct. :)

Those are my standard amounts, and I believe they are in compliance with traditional standards.s.

Your standard amounts are fine and your own business, but they aren't in line with tradition or expectations, which are created by the service industry of course, so take it for what you will. Your logic is all good though, and as many others said everyone is free to tip what they want. Just don't try to justify it by saying its in line with standards when the recommend is 18%. These threads get bad because of that I think, the move from I tip what I want and thats ok, to its right what I tip. In line with standards at Disney would be 18%. Anyone can tip more or less if they want to.

On a different note, i've always found buffets cheaper than eating at regular restaurants overall. I seem to be in the minority though in this thread. I dont ever order desert and buffets still seem cheaper. Anyone else find this?
