Gratuity from 07 to 08 Dining plans??

So I bought my Disney Dining Plan package in 2007, but I am not going until March 2008. I know with the new 2008 Dining Plan says that gratuity is not included. But what happens if I bought the plan in 07 thinking it was?? Am I still going to have to pay gratuity or is my 07 plan honored where it was already included?

The Plan you bought for March 2008 is the 2008 plan - you need to pay your gratuity or stiff the staff.

Or rethink DDP. And if rethinking DDP, you may want to also rethink your reservations. You can probably get a discounted room onsite, and can certainly get less expensive accommodations offsite.

Hopefully, you don't really consider stiffing the waitstaff a real option.

The plan you bought is based on the date of the trip not the date you purchased the plan. So, you have the 2008 dining plan not the 2007 plan and gratuties will not be included (and no appetizer).

I bought the deluxe dining plan for our May 08 trip in 2007 from WDW travel like the week the 08 packages came out. The CM told me about a gagillion times that for 08 the dining plan does NOT include gratuity. It seemed like she was reading something about no gratuity at points in our conversation.

Even if your CM did not tell you that the tip was not included, it doesn't really matter. That's the plan for 2008-it's in their brochures, on their website, in the material you will get handed when you check into your hotel, etc. When I called to make ADR's the CM asked me if I was on the DDP or the Deluxe dining plan. When I told her that I was on the Deluxe, she made sure to tell me that gratuity is NOT inlcuded for 2008. I assured her that I already knew that.

So, I'm pretty certain that You'll have to pay the tip. I'm sure Disney's computers will be set up for the new plan in 08 to work that way.

If my TA told me that gratuities were included in 2008, I would consider going back to the TA and asking the TA for a price-reduction, as compensation for the erroneous information the TA gave me. If, on the other hand, the guest assumed that the 2007 conditions would apply in 2008, and didn't give the TA any reason to believe that they didn't know, then the TA isn't at fault, and I'd look into seeing if the TA would allow me to cancel the Dining Plan without penalty (assuming that this information would make me not want the Dining Plan any longer).

If you had a stay beginning in 2007 and extending into 2008 (for example, your date of checkin was 12/30/07 and you stayed until 1/5/08) you'd be under the 2007 version of the DDP for the entire stay.

However, with a stay that begins in 2008, you'd be under the 2008 DDP, no matter when the stay was booked. You don't have the 2007 plan already included for a stay that begins in March 2008.
