Has anyone had the Graston technique done as a treatment? I had some ITB and knee pain back in September. I think it was the result of running hard too soon after I did a 30K race at the end of August... or maybe a change in my training program/PT . The ITB pain is gone but I still have pain in my left knee. My chiropractor suggested it but I've never had it done before - just ART and accupuncture (which I don't like).

I have heard of the Graston Technique. It can be pretty intense. Our office (I work in a Physical Therapy Clinic and am going to school to be a PTA) uses a technique called ASTYM (Augmented Soft Tissue Mobilization). We have had great results with Plantar Fasciitis, IT band syndromes, and other tendinitis issues. I would suggest going to ASTYM.com and seeing if there is a clinic near you that does it!

If you have any questions please let me know! I'll do my best to answer them/find you an answer!

Yes, I have had Graston done several times.

We have a local chiropractic college in town. As part of our track club membership we get free service at the college. It's great because the students are excited to practice on runners.

Over the past year I have had ankle and ITB issues. They used graston on the ankle several times. You can actually feel it breaking down the fibers. It is very similar to a deep tissue massage. Well worth the price, but it was free for me.

They have not done it on the ITB. They recommend just using a roller which is very similar in concept to graston.

I would try it a couple of times. It can't hurt.
