I am planning my son's party and am finding great blogs where you can purchase printables for cupcake toppers, invites, thank yous, etc. I love them, but want to try my own to save some cash. Does anyone know what programs these talented people are using? An example is TomKat studios. I am willing to spend money on software because I'll save in the long run with three kid's parties, holidays, gifts/cards, etc. Thanks!

If you're on a budget, check out MS WORD which you probably have already. They should have a section on PROJECTS and you will see their templates for such a task.

If you need something more advanced, you might want to do some online research for templates.

I use Printshop. I've been using various editions of this software for 20 years, and do all kinds of things with it, including custom calendars, invites, my DS's graduation announcements, posters, etc. Current editions even have website designing software and web objects (animated objects). You can get it at Costco or Sam's, and it's not that expensive.

I looked at Tom Kat Studios and several of those designs are available almost identical for free from Microsoft.

The templates there are not all professionally designed, so you get a lot of bad with the good, but can easily get you started. Microsoft Publisher seems to be better suited than Word or PowerPoint at creating the items you mentioned. (Publisher isn't exactly cheap though, but if you already have it as part of Office...)

What software do the pros use? Probably a combination of Photoshop and Illustrator.

Thanks for the responses. I need to check out what microsoft offers. MS Publisher seems fairly inexpensive. Illustrator and Photoshop are too pricey for me!

I have had printshop in the past, and would buy it again. Easy program and useful projects.
