I gave Dh a surprise trip to see Dallas Cowboys for his 40th Bday in Nov. We have a package deal from Sat-Mon. I decided to book an xtra night so we r coming in on Fri. My question to any of you from this area is what attractions/ restaurants/nightlife do you recommend for us to look into on fri? We come in early fri so basically we will have all day/night. Are there bars/clubs that are not neccessarily country. I love country music but Dh is not a big fan. Thanx for any input! trudy

I don't live all that close to Grapevine, but there's definitely a lot to do in the area. You aren't far from the Gaylord Texan. It's supposed to have a couple of nice bars. You could also check out the town square in Grapevine. It's got good restaurants (try Esparza's for Mexican food), but I have no clue about the bars.

The Dallas Morning News entertainment web site www.guidelive.com should help you out with the live music/bar scene.

I hope you either got stadium parking or some sort of shuttle bus pass with your package deal. Parking for Jerry Jones' football palace is $75 on game days!

Enjoy your stay and the game. I may gripe about how expensive it is to go there, but it's only out of envy. :lmao: The stadium has gotten rave reviews. Now, if only the Cowboys can play like a TEAM rather than a bunch of one-man shows, we'll have some good football to watch!

As a matter of fact we r staying at the Gaylord for our package deal. So that is good to know. Also, we have have shuttle to the parking lot where there is a tailgaiting party lined up and then shuttle to the gate. We are looking forward to the game. Dh has been a Cowboys fan ever since he was little(u know those cheerleaders can do a number on little men;)) My gift did not go over well with friends /family since we live in Eagles country:) But Dh was really surprised and I think he gets more excited each day! Besides we will be away together for adult time:woohoo: I love my 4kids and we do with them always. 2 Disney trips this year alone. We never go anywhere w/o them. Thanx for ur input!

NIce outlet mall on 122 (about 5 minutes from the airport) inbetween Lewisville and Grapevine. It's called Grapevine Mills. They have a Rainforest Cafe. Plus a ton of chain resturants around it. I only shop there so no help on the bars but honestly if your are in the DFW airport area, you're really close to both Dallas and FortWorth and can acess either of those in less than 30 minutes.

There are a ton of restuarants in the area, I haven't lived there in several years so I'm not sure about the bars any more. I know there are several in Dallas, I would check out the dallas morning news night life guide it would be really helpful!!

Have a great trip! It's "home" to me I grew up about 15 minutes from there but it's amazing how much your focus changes when you go home with a little one! LOL!!!

I work in Grapevine - Since you are staying at the Gaylord, check out the Bar onsite called the Glass Cactus. The hotel is beautiful and has dining places & a sportsbar. The inside of the Gaylord is suppose to represent different area's of Texas (such as the Riverwalk in San Antonio). I second Grapevine Mill's as it is a huge mall - we spent time there before moving to Texas. Also, check out Grapevine's Main Street. Quant little downtown area with shops and places to eat. There is a pizza place called Napoli's on main street that is NY style pizza. It is wonderful and family owned - not a fancy place but food is good. There are several wineries as well. Check out this site as well. Have a great time! :)

I'm assuming you are renting a car? One thing that you will soon realize about the Dallas/Ft. Worth area as opposed to East Coast cites is that it covers a HUGE area. I've seen it written that the Dallas/Ft. Worth area is larger than the states of Rhode Island and Connecticut combined. Assuming you have a car, there is a ton of stuff you can do. It just depends on what you like. Dallas is known for shopping. There are a ton of great places, but being from up East around a metro area you may already have most of the places. Aside from the Grapevine Outlet Mall, if you want something a little more "upscale" the Southlake Town Square shopping area is not that far from where you are. It is an outdoor area with shops, restaurants, movie theater etc. . They have a website if you want to see what is there. Dallas is more Urban and Ft. Worth is more "country". You can find museums and aquariums in Dallas. If you are into history, there are places regarding the Kennedy assasination. If you want to see some Western stuff (what many out of staters expect in Texas), the Fort Worth stockyards would be a really fun place to go. They do a "cattle drive" right down the steet. The Sundance square area in Ft. Worth is also a fun place to go and walk around. It has a lot of little specialty shops, a museum or two, and restaurants and bars. These are all just off the top of my head.

Just thought of another. The Hyatt Regency in Downtown Dallas has the Reunion tower that has the big lighted ball that you see in pictures of the Dallas skyline. You can go up in the lighted ball which gives you a great view of downtown Dallas, especially at night. It has a revolving restaurant, revolving bar, and observation deck. They closed it for renovations, and I believe the restaurant and bar were just reopened and are now a Wolfgang Puck place. I'm not sure if they have reopened the observation deck yet, but it probably will be open again by November.
