I was up at about 7.00am - always have been an early riser - and everyone else gradually appeared. We all went for a swim, my first time in the pool and it was lovely and warm. There had been a very dramatic thunderstorm during the night which woke all the adults but the girls slept through it I'm pleased to say...

Son and DIL said that they actually got up to watch it - never seen lightening like it - we assured them that they probably would see another storm before we left - and they did - but in the 19 days it only rained twice, the weather was lovely most of the time.......

We set off to AK and arrived at about 1215 - this was a lovely day since AK was not very crowded, the Everest part was closing at 3.00pm because it was the 'official' opening of the Everest ride and they had 'special' guests and the media there - a lot of people we think must have avoided it because of that.

We did the Safari - which was brilliant - the animals were really active and we saw loads of them. We tended to just stroll around taking in the atmosphere and we had lunch at a counter service place.....Asian Chicken ...it was very nice..

We walked around the Jungle trek and saw the tigers, they also were very active and we stood watching them for ages, it is so nice when you go to these places and the animals are out and about as opposed to just sleeping, the 2 girls were fascinated

We also went into ' It's a Bug's Life' we debated whether or not to take in the 6 yr old, but decided to in the end - she was fine until the spiders dropped from the ceiling - she did NOT like that, I whipped her glasses off and covered her eyes and she wouldn't watch any more, but that is towards the end anyway, I had forgotten that happens. When we came out she said to me 'Grandma we won't ever go in there again will we?' and I said 'No not if you don't want to'

There was no continuing problem though, no nightmares etc... and a couple of days later she was showing off to a little friend that she got to know that she had 'been into A Bug's Life - and it's not scary!!'

The little one was so busy playing with the glasses that she saw very little of the show.

The jungle parade was good - we found a good spot and had a little space to ourselves which was lovely because both of the girls got loads of attention from the characters who waved, and came over to shake hands etc. Bt this time the little one was dancing along to the music and much more at ease with the characters!!!!

We collected a few more autographs and generally wondered around looking at the detail and the animals. There was a steel band playing and some visitors were dancing so we sat and watched for a while before making our way to the villa - stopped for hot bbq chicken on the way back - had an ADR for Princess breakfast the following day so decided on a semi-early night.

I love AK

Thanks - great reports so far

Super day by the sounds of it and what a considerate grannie taking off the glasses :)
