Checked into the VWL this morning and am presently writing this from our 2 BR lock-off. Rooms were in great shape with no problems at all.

I Don't believe a thing about "first available" any more. Not a single one of our requests (except the important one, no smoking) was met and we made the reservation for this week at exactly 11 months. The CM behind the desk told us that the rooms are assigned at about one week before the check in day and he was sorry he couldn't do anything. We have a great room and that's all that matters. The decorations are amazing!

Checked in at around 9:45 A.M. went to the MK and called to check on the room at around 3:00 P.M. It was ready when we called.

If you have any questions while I'm here, I will be checking the Boards from time to time.

Okay, I'm a little homesick reading about your trip, but mostly glad that you are having a great time and that everything is proceeding smoothly!

I hear you are having a chilly couple days there. The weather channel is showing people in Miami wearing leather coats and sweaters. The VWL is a perfect location for that type of weather though... really makes you feel like you are in the Pacific Northwest.

So stay warm and I hope you have a marvelous time. I'll be living vicariously through your posts. Thank you for thinking of us while you are in WDW.

I found the "room ready" to work when I checked in on 30 Nov. The CM who checked me in told me the room they had set aside for me was not ready and would I want another one. I said yes if one was ready and it was. The only think I asked for was non-smoking and non-handicap. Normally I wouldn't expect to have a room this quickly but it did work this one trip.

Simba Cub: Who knows with this room ready. When I check into the BCV next Sunday, maybe I'll experience something different then?

Two nights ago it was freezing. Last night was better. Today the kids are swimming in the quiet pool. It seems starnge to walk by the Christmas decorations and then have the kids jump into the pool. I'm taking Disney Enthusiast's advice now and heading out.

I know that we were "only" there for a weekend, but we checked in on Friday. We had only asked for non-smoking, and that's what we got, checking in at 4. But the room was definitely assigned to us, because when I mentioned that there was a Christmas tree being held for me, and, after checking the CM said that it was in the room waiting for us. What a wonderful homecoming.

We were in a studio, 3503 and it was perfect.

I hope you have a wonderful time, we couldn't get over the sheer beauty of WL and the common areas of VWL were more beautifully decorated than CR or Poly IOHO!

We checked in on Friday as well, just left this morning. We were
in Room 5517, one bedroom dedicated. Great location. All of my requests were met, non smoking, non handicap, close to the elevator. We did not arrive till about 5pm, but I had called that morning to check on my requests. CM told me they had all been
met. It was very chilly at the MVMCP on Friday night. Today the
weather was great. You can't beat VWL at Christmas time.

When I checked in at BWV on Dec 6, they told me all rooms had been pre-assigned and they were sold out. I don't think they are doing total "room ready" where no rooms are pre-assigned, especially during periods of high occupancy. When they have some empty rooms they maybe able to juggle the rooms but if it's sold out they probably will not. In my case, the room did not meet either of my requests other than non-smoking, but I loved what we got (large corner room)!

DebbieB: I think VWL was "booked" when I checked in as there were no 1 BDR available. I wonder if perhaps they have them grouped by general requests--i.e. smoking or non-smoking. It would make sense they cannot shuffle people around if they are booked though. We'll just have to wait and see what happens as more and more people report on the room ready situation.

HBC: I hope you had a smooth transition!! You are so lucky to be there right now. Enjoy your trip!! I miss VWL already and I have been back only 11 days!!
