We had dark granite installed in our kitchen in SC. The seam is terrible. I am wondering if its supposed to be that noticeable. According to installer thats what happens.

Any opinions?

thanks.

The seam should be very subtle. It should be very thin and and closely match the overall color of the granite.

If it's visible from across the room, the installer doesn't know what he is doing.

Me and three Aunts all have granite-ranging from St. Ceceila to Black, and you cannot see the seams unless you get close and really look for them.

I also have dark granite and my seams are subtle and small and they placed them in inconspicuous places. I would definitely call the company that installed them and ask for someone to come out and look at them again.

My friend just had dark granite installed and her seam is very noticeable. After I saw her seam, I decided on the silestone instead! You don't have the weight factor with silestone and it is suppose to be easier to care for.

We have dark green and black (jade butterfly) granite and our seam is hardly noticeable. In fact, I just went to look at it and it was hard to find!

nope no seams here-

Tell him that's what happens with a bad installer.

That is one of the reasons we picked the company that installed our counter tops. The other companies had bad seams in this displays -- I could only imagine what it would look like in our home.

Our seams are practically invisible.

I have Silestone (quartz), since I wanted a specific corner layout I do have a seam and it is barely noticeable. Someone mentioned that it is easier to maintain....there really is none, just wipe and go.......:thumbsup2 and no toxins..........Love it!

Mine looks practically seamless. I couldn't even see it until my builder pointed it out to me!
After the company installed it, my builder was showing everyone who came into the house what a great job that company did. He said it was the most invisible seam he'd ever seen. (He's young though--in his late 20's) We picked the company and he had never used them before. I think he'll be using them now.

want it fixed.I'd

I have dark granite. I can see one seam, but you have to stand right by it to notice....I think I am the only one that has noticed it....but then I notice everything

The house is WA has the quartz......lighter color though. You can see the seams in that too, if you look for them.

I have silestone in my Mass home but wanted to do diff in SC. I'm my own worst enemy :rotfl:. The contractor was going out to see if he could make it better yesterday, we'll see what happens.

I'm also thinking the flash from the camera may have made it look worse? Although a neighbor did say you could really see the seam. We got UBA TUBA so it is dark.

Its so hard when you aren't right on top of them when they are working.

my Friend just redid her ktichen with Uba Tuba- there is a ton of granite in there and you can't see the seams. They used clear "glue" or whatever it is they put in there and you really have to strain to see the seams. I hope they resolve it for you. My opinion is you pay for it it should be perfect.

We just had a light granite installed and the seam is barely noticable. We HAD uba tuba in two areas of the kitchen and while it was beautiful to look at, I hated it. I showed every streak, water spot and toast crumb.

I agree with a pp that the installer didn't do a good job.

I have a dark color of granite in my kitchen and I can barely see the seams.

I had absolute black in my last house and same thing, no noticeable seams.

Is it the width of the seam or the color of the glue?

Either way it should not be noticeable. I would have them redo it.

The seams in my granite are nearly invisible. I know where they are, but someone coming into my kitchen would be hard-pressed to find them...even running one's hand over them doesn't make it easy to find them...they are that smoothe. It is a dark gray...almost black..with some flecks of green, peach and lavender.
