Granite Countertops or alternatives

I LOVE this counter!!! I'm also interested in the cost.

It runs about $75/sq foot. My BIL put it in their kitchen and bathrooms. It is pretty cool. They were able to select the colors they wanted in the countertops and how much of each color. They have orange in their kitchen, lime green in one bathroom, and blue in another bathroom. They also have this for the shower stall in their kids' bathroom (the lime green one). It looks very nice and has a similar feel as granite, the coolness of the stone.

I think we are going for granite for our new house but I actually picked out a quartz that I like. We're not quite there yet so we'll see which one we pick.

OT...I had a lady at work the other day with the last name Buckalew on her check, and I instantly thought of 'this DISer with that name"... LOL

I could not afford granite.

I did the cheapo man made stuff.....

I love it so far!

That's pretty!! Something pretty and less expensive than granite is probably what we'll do!! I hate my counters now...

Surely she is an imposter!!! ;):rotfl:

It is not my last name but I borrowed it from Bcukalew's Bar on LBI, NJ(where I'm originally from) and it was indeed there last name. As a kid I loved that name when we drive by there and I named my dog after that place. Called him Bucky for short , so there you go. :flower3:

We put in granite last summer....I love it! We have a great granite store close by that ended up costing us about half of what Corian would have cost. Shop around and you can find some really good deals.

Your kitchen looks beautiful. Did you do a tile backsplash?? I think thats what I want to do. Does it save any $$ ??

THanks. I love how it turned out. Originally was going to get black, but when I saw this brown, I fell for it!! Goes really well with the wall color don't ya think?
And I LOVE the tin tiles!

Call me the voice of dissent, but I don't like the Vetrazzo. To me it looks like something that is "of-the-moment" and will be very dated looking very shortly. I don't even care for the look of it right now.

If we had the $$$ we'd do granite in the kitchen and bathroom. We may settle for granite tile.

I have a solid surface from LG. I really like it. Less expensive than granite. No sealing, no staining. Seamless with the sink.
