Hi everyone,
We recently got back from our trip to DAKL. We really loved the new rooms and I was particularly drawn to the colors of the granite countertops. They are this deep brown that is very smooth and has a very small pattern. Does anyone happen to know what the name of the granite is that they used? I would love to know!!

Thanks in advance!

When we went in December (1 bedroom value), there were 3 different granites (2 in the kitchen and another in the bathroom) :confused3

You are right :) All three complimented each other wonderfully and I was hoping someone knew the names of these granites.

Thanks!
Heidi

Do you mean at AKV? :confused3

We were there in Nov in a studio and my husband told me the two granits that were used were Saint Cecilia and Giallio Ornamental. He only knows this because that is what he does for a living. Now if you are looking for these specifically, these are the actual names. Some places such as Lowes and Home Depot change the names of the material so you can not shop around. Hope that helps.

Be sure to watch how dark a material you use. The very dark brown totally hides anything on the countertops. I have to go over them with my hands to be sure everything is wiped up.;)

Dizbound---thank you so much! We are working with a big contracting company now, so I can give them the actual names and they can see if they have it available to them. Thank you! I was hoping someone was in the business and knew what it was.

Cruelladeville--You are so right and thanks for the tip! We don't want to go TOO dark because it will make the room look smaller too, but I think we might get a sample, try it out for a few days and see if we like it.

Thank you both again! Enjoy your Sunday and perhaps holiday weekend if you get tomorrow off.

Take care!

That made me laugh. I have a dark green/black granite and my glasses have black frames. I have trouble finding them on the granite.

I can't find anything on my granite! Once I set something down, it disappears! Now, the granite looks really sharp (we have a large kitchen), but I would never get it again. It's not fun to sit down at the snack bar, and put your elbows into some unknown substance!

I asked the granite too....

but they didn't know the names....

I'm redoing my house, and it's old with really dark wood, so I think this might look good.

Subscribing.

Yes, these are the names. We remodeled our kitchen in the fall and I spent many nights looking at swatches of Santa Cecilia... :scratchin Also, Santa Cecilia comes in a 'Dark' and a 'Light'. Hard to tell, but looks like AKV could be the 'Dark'...

Great thread! We are looking at going with granite, starting in the bathroom. It would be cool to have a little AKV in our house.

I will agree to this fact, but to not have to worry about someone coming in and seeing crumbs from the 1 and 5 yr old all over is a wonderful thing!

I was looking at the colors and I second that Saint Cecilia comes in a dark and a light color. I REALLY almost 100% think that Animal Kingdom has the dark. It was so so SOOO pretty!

Now lets hope that the company I am working with carries that color...haha!
