Grandsons getting ears pierced

So, grandsons getting their ears pierced (as well as granddaughters of course). Seems to be quite the custom now, isn't it?

Not a new thing...men/boys have been getting their ears pierced as long as I can remember.

Are they only piercing their ears? My nephew has multiple ear piercings, nose, bottom lip and both eyebrows.

My husband had an earring when I met him in high school, 36 years so. I loved it. I wouldn't mind if he still wore one but he let it close up.

Well, yes, I suppose doing their ears is quite "tame" now...

I was in HS in the late 80's/early 90's and alot of guys had their ear pierced.
I think it's more common for boys to have both pierced now (my ds and many of his friends do) but in general guys with ear piercings is nothing new.

Earrings on men don’t strike me as a new thing. My husband has had both his ears pierced (two in each ear) since I met him at age 14. He stopped wearing earrings probably 20 years ago.

Our teenage son just got his ears pierced a few weeks ago.

All girls in my family (except my daughters) had their ears pierced when they were infants.

I can remember when boys didn't pierce their ears, but it has indeed been around for a while now. When you see it for for the first time on a family member it can take a bit of a while for some ppl to get used to it. But I'm sure anyway they think it looks nice. It's rather widespread also, isn't it.

My little Godson had his ears pierced for his first birthday last year. A picture...I *may* have been the one to buy his 1st Birthday clothes, but you'd never guess.

No, next it will be tattoos. My oldest grandson has two. One to honour his Dad who passed and another of a world map, highlighting our country. It’s his choice. We don’t always agree with their choices, but as long as it’s legal and doesn’t hurt anyone, I just keep quiet.

My husband is in his 50s and he has a pierced ear. Although it so happens that I have never seen him wear an earring. By the time he graduated college he had already stopped wanting to wear an earring, and that's when we met. So I've only seen him wear one in old photos. I have a few male cousins in their 50s and 60s who also had a pierced ear or two at some point in their life. And they have all opted to stop wearing the earring(s) over the decades as well.

It used to be that girls didn't get tattooed and boys didn't get their ears pieced. Now girls get tattooed with confidence and it seems that boys get their ears pierced confidently also. I suppose these days all round it's become part of growing up, hasn't it?
