Are there any other resorts besides OKW (specifically BCV) that have 3 BR grand villas that point renters can use? And if so how many points are we talkin"? We rented points just this past Sept. towards a 2BR at BWV and enjoyed the villa so much that the WHOLE family wants to rent next year!
:jumping1: :jumping1:
Unfortunetly we cant buy in for a couple of years so we will have to rent from you nice people for a while. Im sure you dont mind?

No GVs at BCV or VWL. There are a few GVs at BWVs, but they are significantly more expensive point wise than the ones at OKW.

There will be GVs at SSR.

Check a points chart (there is a link to one at the top of this page), because the points will vary alot depending on when you travel and if you are planning on staying weekends.

The BC does not have Grand Villas but the BW does. They can be hard to reserve because there are not very many. All of them overlook the BW. We have stayed in a 2-story unit. It was wonderful.

The two resorts currently open that have GVs are BWV and OKW. BWV only has 7 I believe, but OKW has 26. That being said, you would probably have to be prepared to rent at the 11 month booking window to secure one. This, of course, would also depend on what time of year you are planning to travel.

A grand vill at BWV in adventure season would be 370 points for a Sunday to Friday stay. OKW for that same time would be 180 points. If you are talking a week, it would be 558 for BWV and 356 for OKW (again during January, September or 1st two weeks of December.) SSR will also have GV's but since that is going to be new, I would expect them to be pretty difficult to get unless you rented from someone who owns at that resort. Since most folks want to use the first points themselves, I doubt there will be many points rented from there for awhile.

We we're palnning to go down late October or November. Points for a 1 week, Sat-Sat, trip in a Grand at BWV?

That would be 587 points, but I think you missed the point of my post. That's a lot of points for one party to give up, and BWV has such a limited supply of GV's that they would have to be reserved on a day by day basis. Many folks don't have that many points in any given year, and would have had to bank and borrow to put together that many. It might mean them giving up thier vacations for a couple of years just to get a few bucks.

What Diane is saying is that it is going to be darn hard to find a BWV owner with nearly 600 points to rent willing to call for a GV day by day on such short notice. Plus that is the time of the Food and Wine festival. So they are going to need to make the committment to call day by day first thing in the morning - and even then the units may get booked up faster than they can call and you'll need to be understanding and flexible about wait lists and booking alternate accomodations - you are asking a lot from the owner who rents those points to you. And you'll need to find that owner soon and have your plans firmed up (assuming you mean Oct/Nov 2004) NOW - the eleven month window for late October pretty much starts now.

Not to mention that the nearly $6,000 (or more, I wouldn't ditz with this kind of request for a renter for $10 a point) you'd be spending to rent those points could go a long way towards buying your own contract.

If I were you, I'd go looking for a resale. You'll need to bank and borrow three years of points if you buy a 200 point resale to pull a GV off - and you'll want your home resort to be BW if that is where you want to stay. But you wouldn't be able to do this and go down next year. It would have to be the year after.

Thanks for the info. Just so Im sure, I know the points at OKW are less, but does this renting day by day process apply to all GV or just the ones at BVC? I guess my question is, is it an ordeal to reserve a GV at OKW with points as well? I just want to know my options. Odds are I will be reserving a 2 BR and a separate studio but I want to give the rest of my party the whole scoop before I commit to anything on their behalf.

Renting a GV anywhere during the food and wine is going to be a day by day calling thing, because points are low, and people love the F&W festival. I will be reserving a GV for that time frame myself. I am calling first thing tomorrow morning to reserve my first day (10/17/04) and will be calling day by day until the reservation is complete. I have no doubt I will be able to get the GV at OKW, but if you are looking at BWV, the chance is GREATLY reduced.
