My family is planning a trip to WDW in May'07 and we've invited 2 other families to join us so I'm thinking about either getting a 2br/studio combo or 1 grand villa.
Boardwalk GV would be fantatic but just too many points :sad2: so if you can choose between OKW or SSR grand villa, which one would it be and why :p

Thanks everyone!

We're going to OKW GV in Feb - the difference in points between SSR & OKW made the decision for us. I had to book at 7 month but we got all dates needed. :cool1:
The deciding factors may be what is available and who you are sharing the space with. Maybe you'd like to be able to close off the studio depending on who is using that space. We're going down in two years with my inlaws and we'll be getting the studio/2bed combo at SSR for that trip. For two reasons - we'll be there for March break so the chance of booking at 7month for all nights at OKW for us will be slim and there will be two-year old twin's in the studio so separation might be necessary!

I've read so many great comments about OKW from these boards I can't wait to stay there. We'll be happy to go Home on our next trip!

Unless this is a weekend-only trip, OKW is just sooo much cheaper that I'd have a hard time book at SSR. But keep in mind that GV's are tough to book outside your home resort, so you might not have a lot of choice.

OKW is definitely cheaper. but to me more thought went into the placement of the GV at SSR. they (to me) definitely have better views.

of course I would go with 2-bedroom and a studio - again at OKW - my family does not get along well enough to stay all together. So make that 1-bedroom and 2 studios - as far apart as OKW will let us..... :)

Agree OKW best point value.

Thanks for your inputs. I really do appreciate it :thumbsup2 On that note, few more questions :rotfl2:
I have two little girls who love to swim. How's the pool situation at the OKW? Are GVs close to the main pool at OKW? How about at SSR, is the kiddie pool area at SSR close to the GVs?

I have to ask, how long have you been a member in the disney vacation club? This is something we are extremely interested in and at this point, we are told we would be better under the referral of another disney vacation club member. Is this something you would do?

Besides requiring fewer points, I believe the OKW GVs are bigger than those at SSR. We stayed in an OKW GV last November and it was incredible. We are DVC members at OKW and just love staying there. Yes, it is a little quiet but we get plenty of action at the parks and enjoy relaxing when we are "back home" in our OKW villa. There are several pools thruout the resort so you will not be far from one no matter where your villa is located.

I think OKW GV would be fantastic if I can get it. Thanks everyone.

BTW, scooter54241, we've DVC members for little over 2 yrs. and so far, we've managed one trip each to VWL and BWV.

Scooter, for information about the current referral program, take a look at this thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1241943

You can post there asking for a referral, and will get plenty of responses.

The OKW GVs are awesome. But how many people in each of the three families and how many kids? The OKW GV has the MBR and two other BR one has 2 regular size double beds, the other has two queen size. There is a sleeper sofa in the living room The Br with the two regular double beds was very cramped with a pack'n'play in it. The other BR had a bit more room, we had a pack'n play in that room as well. I think you should be thinking about who will sleep where. The 2br and studio sleep the same number (12) as the GV but no one is in the living room. It all depends on how friendly your group is. I'm just an over planner thinking about all scenerios.

The GVs at OKW are spread throughout the whole resort. The main pool has a castle water slide that is a big hit, but there are 4 pools total at the resort. ANY location is easily accessible to the main pool. If it is farther than you want to walk, just take ANY bus, and it will stop at the main building before it exits the property. I'm sure someone else can tell about the SSR pools, since I only have experienced the first 2 original ones there.

OKW GV's are awesome. We've had 11 people of three families and never felt cramped. The best thing is the two extra bedrooms are up stairs which makes using the living room very comfortable. The kitchen area is huge and the dining room makes the whole villa seem that much larger. We love the porches at OKW, they are large. The kids love the main pool at OKW and the quiet pools are nice as well.

I've not been to the SSR GV's, but from experience, we love the OKW Grand Villas. After 3 trips in the OKW GV's we have a hard time traveling any other way.
