Grand Villa and booking window questions

For those of you who have booked one the Grand Villas...did you book at your home resort or were you able to book at the 7 month window at another resort? Since SSR and OKW are larger resorts, do they usually have a GV available at the 7 month mark? What about other resorts?

How difficult is it to book a GV?

Hi-

I have booked 2 GV at SSR, one in the summer and sort of last minute...like a month out, and one at Xmas time and I did book at my 11mos window.

I have owned for 4years now and I have never ever had an issue getting a room. I dont know if its the time I travel or what, but I have (knock on wood) gotten what I wanted at SSR and Vero Beach every time.

Because OKW takes so many fewer points, it is rare to get a GV at 7 months, especially at the busy times. Unless someone else has cancelled and there wasn't a waitlist. You probably would have a better chance at SSR.

When we stayed at OKW with my best friend and her family, she booked a 2BD and a studio at 7 months and we went on the waiting list for a GV. The waitlist came through 4 months before our trip. If I remember correctly, there was no GV available at any resorts at the 7 month point because of F&W festival.

I booked an OKW grand villa at 7 months for three nights for the upcoming Spring Break. So it can happen. Ironically, it looks like it may just be our family of four, so we really don't need the big unit. But I think we'll try it just to see what it's like.

We were able to book an OKW grand villa this summer (mid July) at the 7 month mark. I simply called the 1st day I was able to book first thing in the morning.
