Grand Plan & Concierge

If you are using the grand plan package do you have access to the concierge lounge and facilities? Does it depend on which resort you choose?

I know the Grand Floridian and Contemporary do give you access to their concierge levels while on the Grand Plan.

DG-12, it depends. Currently that seems to be the case, but everything at Disney is subject to change. I am living proof of that.

I did the GP twice at the GF in the past. Those were the days when a GP would NOT get you access to the concierge lounge at the GF. I had a GP booked last year and one booked for this Fall. Due to my extended family unexpectedly deciding to join me on one of the vacations, and due to my immediate family canceling out on another, I wound up canceling both of those GPs. I can tell you, however, that concierge lounge access would have been included for each of those vacations had I gone through with them.

So, now you see why I answered the way that I did. The only safe bet is to ask that question when you book your own GP vacation. And try to get it in writing!

Is there a resort you would suggest to stay at using this plan? This is our five year anniversary/last trip before kids... I wanted to stay at AKL but thought maybe it's too far removed to really appreciate all the perks of the plan and than thought maybe GF but have been reading some less than stellar recent reports- so now I am back to square one. Any suggestions?

Dana, the AKL is my favorite resort. The BW is my second favorite. Both of my Grand Plans were done at the GF. Both of them were lovely. Since then, however, I have stayed concierge at the GF a few times. Those stays were touched by problems due to the concierge staff messing up certain reservations of mine, and not following through with answers regarding certain issues on others. For some reason, however, the GF is still my husband's favorite resort. Go figure.

What resort would I suggest for a GP? If you have your heart set on a specific one, then by all means please book it. You certainly don't want to go on vacation at your second choice (you'd keep lusting after your first choice and that might put a damper on things).

Grand Plan resorts are any of the deluxe resorts: Grand Floridian, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Polynesian, Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge, Yacht Club, Beach Club, and the BoardWalk Inn. You probably can't go wrong at any of them. In my humble opinion, the AKL has the best concierge staff on property. If you want to increase your odds of having a magical vacation, consider picking the AKL. I want to warn you, though, that once you're staying at the AKL, you won't want to leave it! It is such a unique and truly relaxing resort. You have been warned!

We had the Grand Plan and stayed at the Boardwalk Villa's and had access to the concierge lounge at the Boardwalk Inn. Long walk, but we enjoyed it.
