I don’t usually see them until 10-11am.

You seem to have all the answers on what schools and teachers should do. When is the last time you worked at a school?

‘Everyone wants kids back in school. But we want them there safely. And we are not there yet. Schools don’t have the funding or the staffing. Simple as that. To say it is their job to make it happen is ridiculous and just shows you obviously have no idea how a school operates.

Summer schools, day cares and camps are seeing increased cases and having to shut things down. Now multiply that by millions of school kids going back. It is not safe the way things stand right now.

I personally would rather we all, as a country, delayed the start of school by six months and everyone wore masks and stayed home as much as possible. Yes...that stinks. But it would knock this virus way down and then maybe we could talk about opening schools safely. We are simply not there right now.

I agree. I think keeping kids home to start the year and spending the next few months trying to get the virus under control AND working on achievable safety plans that we can fund in school buildings is our best bet. Sending them back to school in the next two months with barely thought out plans and procedures will just mean we have to close everything down again. I think a series of multiple closures over and over again would be much more disruptive for most kids than one longer period away followed by getting back in school to stay at a later date.

So much for kids being magically immune and the ability to make schools safe. The Missouri camp employed extreme caution, like new filtration systems and spending lots of time outside. And these are camps, not schools.

Btw, the Missouri camp is re-opening. I can’t imagine any parent sending their kids.

Me too. I think that most medical staff mean well but don't necessarily know the facts. I won't comment on politicians.

They also have to have the funds to do all that, and they don’t. We have some schools that start here in less than 3 weeks, not 3 months.

I was referring to the summer that they had to do it, not the time they have left. I'm well aware of when school starts.

I was just mentioning that because not all schools start at the same time. Even locally our schools begin anywhere from Aug 3 until near the end of August. I have no idea when schools in other states open. But again, without funds, there's not a lot they can do.
