Hi!

Looking for any information/reviews about Grand Gathering experiences. We will be in WDW 12/09. We have booked - Tony's Good Morning Breakfast, Safari Celebration Dinner and the Illumiantions Dinner. Has anone attended? Are they worth it? How was the food? Tips & reviews would be GREATLY appreciated!!

We have done the Good Morning Breakfast at Tony's with our grand gathering. It was fun. It was no different really than any other character meal. Food was good. The host was a riot and he would call out things like "any anniversaries???" and a table would all hoot and scream.

It was fun time and I guess it was worth it..it wasn't any pricier than anything else.

We did the Safari Celebration in Feb 2008, there were 10 of us in our GG-2 Grandparents and our family and my brother's family with kids ranging from 7-14, all boys, except for 1.

We loved the Safari, you got a much longer ride and our driver stopped along the way, so we could take pictures and it was much more interactive with the driver. It was also nice not to have to worry about waiting in line for the ride while we were at AK.

Dinner was very good. Even though there is an African theme to the food, none of it was too wierd for all of us to try, with the exception of my twin nephews who are the pickiest eaters you have ever seen-they only eat certain brands of mac & cheese and plain hot dogs. If you have been to Tusker House for lunch or dinner, the food is basically the same. They do have the traditional kids stuff on the buffet also, so don't worry about finding something for everyone.

We also loved the interation with the various musicians they had playing during dinner. There were some live animals brought in for the kids to check out and there were characters from Lion King for pictures and autographs.

By the time we were done, most people had left the park, so we were able to get some cool night-time shots of the Tree of Life.

Hopefully this answers your questions. Have a great time!

can you tell me about gratuity for gatherings. I know if you are a group of 6 or more it is an automatic 18% but I can't remember about the gathering experiences is gratuity included?
Thanks

We did the Grand Gatherings dinner and illuminations for our 35th wedding anniversary four years ago. We paid almost $600.00. There were 12 in our party. I did not feel it was worth that kind of money. Some of the food was cold and not very good. The entertainment was a singer and piano player.
We had two dances and Goofy was there for the kids. The desserts were very good and served where we were sent to view illuminations, but for some reason our spot was not a good location. I couldn't see anything, but smoke from the explosions. At the time we went, the meal was buffet, but I do believe
there was a tip included in the price. Hope this review helps.:confused3
