Grand Gathering - Magical Firework Voyage

What type of food was served at the Epcot GG? Would picky eaters enjoy it? What was the entertainment like? Was the Odessy cramped? What types of desserts are there? Wish there was a menu posted somewhere....I am wondering the same thing about the Safari dinner....

I booked today at 180 days out using Wilderness Dad's suggestions and he was right on! I had tried a few other numbers (grand gatherings, members services, etc) and no one knew how to book it. The first gg number I called hadn't even heard of it before! Then when I was done, the events gg lady took my info and forwarded it (and me) to group dining, where I was able to make my Chef Mickey's reservation to coincide. Wonderful!

The one question I have... I booked 13 people, and they had to do it on two reservations. Apparently each ressie can only be 11 people. They assured me we'd be together, there'd be no problem, etc. I did get two confirm #s. A few hours later, I received a confirmation email for one of the reservations (the one for 11 people) but never got anything for the reservation for the extra two. All were made at the same time. I'm sure if I call, they'll tell me they've got it all together, but should I be worried? I just don't want to be on hold for 20 mins again!

Great! I'm glad that it worked out for you. I would call about the reservation just to make sure that all are included.

Most definitely. I have done this. I actually wrote a procedure on this. See below. Let me know please how this procedure should be changed. They may do things differently now.

5. AS SOON AS YOU CAN, call DVC Member services (DVCMS) at 1-800-xxx-xxxx to make your room reservations AND tell them
that you have a GG. Give DVCMS all of the information about your party. DVCMS will then contact the GG folks and inform them of the upcoming GG. DVCMS will get a magical gathering (MG) number back to you in a few days. It was only a day wait for me. Remember that number. It will be very important.

I have been through step 5, and one really nice point was that DVC e-mailed the magical gathering number directly to the "organizer" of our group in less than 24 hours, although they said "a few days". We're ready to proceed to the next step in a few weeks when we hit our 180-day mark!
