Grand Gathering Disappointments

We had been planning a trip to Disney World for two years. Us (4), Wife's 3 sister's families (12) and mother and father in laws (2) for a grand total of 18. Now you think that they would be able to find something for us to accomadate the amount of $$$ we would be spending for the week but there was nothing unless we spent even more that could be suggested to us. Now I don't believe we should have been treated any better than other guests but for a Grand Gathering Promotion you think they would offer something special for free. Dispite the Grand Gathering disappointment we all had a great time and lived to tell about it.

We looked into it a few years ago they called it something else I think. It was more expensive then doing everything myself. I also couldn't understand the lack of freebie or even a group rate. It seems like they are punishing you and charging you more for having a bigger group.

I agree. My IL are taking the whole family(11) from 3/29-4/6. They are paying for everything from airfare to the DDP. It is costing them about 20 grand(they chose the GF), but still if we want to do any of the GG things you have to pay yet more. I understand D is a business and obviously we could pick a less expensive resort, but if you are going to promote GG as something great for large parties I think they could find some cool things to do and not charge for them. I don't think it matters which resort you stay at or if you buy the DDP, but just something like watching the parade or Illuminations from a special vantage point. They don't need to add food or anything, just have a special area to see things well. I understand you can't have everyone with a GG do this at the same time but you could make your reservation for it just like you would a ADR. Because of the added expense, needless to say my IL chose not to do anything else.
