We just booked a fall 2016 stay at Grand Floridian. What should we be sure to see and do at the Grand Floridian. When we do on line check in is there a building we should request to be in. Thanks in advanced,

You may want to visit this thread : http://www.disboards.com/threads/2014-2015-grand-floridian-resort-villas-faq.3336950/ dedicated to GF. Has all the information you need for the resort.

As for buildings look at the map and decide where you would like to be and what is important to you. What view you booked will also be a determining factor in what building may be best. Do you want to be closer to the main building, the pool, the bus stop, the boat dock, etc. Each has a pro and a con the main building and the sugarloaf building are concierge only so unless you booked those you need to choose from the others. Also, think about what other requests are important to you. Would you rather request quiet location, close to transportation etc. When you just pick a building if it is not available the room assignor does not know why you picked it. Just things to think about.

The GF is a great resort, you're going to love it! As far as things to do, if you are planning some resort time, it's relaxing walking the grounds or just sitting and taking in the beautiful surroundings. It's also nice sitting in the lobby listening to the band play. As far as which building to request, I agree with baler that it depends on what you are looking for (close to the main building, quiet, etc). My two favorite outer buildings are Big Pine Key and Boca Chica. Both overlook the courtyard pool and both are just steps from the main building and beach pool. Sago Cay and Conch Key are on the other side over by the marina, closer to Gasparillas and bus/boat transportation. With that said, the GF isn't as spread out as it seems and while some outer buildings are closer to the main areas than others, none of them are far away.

Do all rooms (obviously not ground) at sugarloaf have a balcony of their own?
