Staying at the Grand in August. I got an offer to upgrade for $300 more for the length of our stay to a TPV room from a standard view. I’m thinking it’s probably worth it? Any disadvantage? Farther from pool or a specific building I should request?

Also, I knew there was construction going on. I’ve stayed at the grand before, but some people I will be with haven’t. Is the construction bad enough to warrant choosing a different resort??

The construction is in the lobby so I guess it depends on how much time you’ll be spending in the lobby? If it were me and I were just passing through, it wouldn’t sway me enough to change. If you were to change resorts, where would you move to? There seems to be a lot of construction going on at the moment, especially the MK resorts.

Critical factor is how many nights it is.

I don't really think it's worth it. We stayed in a theme park view room at GF and the view was really only if you went out on the balcony so that "view" entirely depends on the room you get. I'm sure there are some where you just look out your window and bam, but that wasn't the case where we were. We were close to the main pool and the lake which meant that we had boat horns going off at ungodly hours of the morning. I'd never do it again.

We upgraded to TPV there last year on a really great deal and it was absolutely worth it. Initially we just planned to have a “DIY” dessert party for HEA one night in lieu of the one we usually do, but we ended up watching fireworks from the balcony nearly every night. It was party season so we got to see the Halloween ones too, and it actually changed my opinion of them (I’d only ever seen them at the party, and was underwhelmed—it’s much more impressive from outside the park imo).

I requested Conch and got it and I cannot tell you how convenient it was. pp complained about the boat horns but they didn’t bother us at all and it was absolutely worth being right next to the dock. Getting back from MK EEH and the party at almost 2 am we were grateful for the short walk back to the room from the boat. It was not far to the lobby at all for mug refills at Gaspys or monorail/bus but imo none of the buildings really are, GF seems much more spread out than it actually is. We were not far from the leisure pool.

We had one of the dormer rooms so our balcony was protected from the elements and sitting out there in the rain, watching the monorail go past the castle, was so cool. We even heard the train whistle at MK, which we thought was cool.

Several recent threads are from people talking being offered various types of 'upgrades' to their planned accommodations. It seems like Disney marketing is making more of these offers as a way to increase revenue. Never stayed at Floridian, but during our last trip we stayed in the towers for the Contemporary that had a lake view which was cheaper than theme park view. We really enjoyed sitting on our balcony looking over the lake. Theme park view at the Contemporary is mostly a view of the resort parking lot and you can see the tops of the tallest structures from MK in the distance.

If the view above is typical, I wouldn't pay extra just to see part of the lake and a bit of the monorail.
