Hi all! We are DVC (don't own at GFV) but DH just surprised me with an anniversary trip staying CL at the Grand Floridian! (we honeymooned there in 1990 so this is very cool!)

We will be in the Sugar Loaf building...any suggestions other than upper floor?

We stayed in a room on the marina side that was very quiet and not far from the elevator. Can’t remember the room number.... maybe someone else has stayed in that location and can chime in. I definitely would request an upper floor away from the lobby. Less noise and traffic.

Fun! Happy early anniversary. :-)

I answered a similar question recently on the CL thread, my post is here: GF SL Room Info: https://www.disboards.com/threads/d...-and-questions.3414590/page-968#post-59916785

For me personally, I’d request upper floor, away from the lobby, facing the Courtyard Pool. Note the upper floors start to have the ‘dormer rooms’ in certain parts (I explain further in the link). Some people do not like the dormer rooms and request as such. Some people like them.

Happy to answer any questions!

Thank you both so much (and wow GADisneyDad14, that was an awesome post!!). Looks like upper floor away from atrium is the way to go! We'd probably prefer to face the courtyard pool, but like you say, we hate to have too specific of a request.

Yeah, for a small building, it's a bit tricky! In full disclosure, after worrying and studying about room requests like crazy before our first trip there, ironically on our second trip I didn't send in any requests at all. There are only a few rooms which I really would not want in SL (first floor around the middle atrium), but the rest just have nuanced differences which aren't deal killers, so I opted to leave it in the room assignor's hands. :-)

Enjoy your trip!
